6 Best Acupuncture Clinics in Houston

5 Best Acupuncture Clinics in Houston

How We Chose:

Communication – Booking an acupuncture session shouldn’t be a hassle. Thus, these clinics should always be reachable through their hotlines for an easier process for everyone.
Expertise –  We chose clinics that have extensive experience regarding acupuncture. Their acupuncturist should have the necessary training and licenses before they perform this treatment.
Facilities – The best acupuncturists in Houston should have a relaxing and therapeutic clinic to complement the procedure. They must also have health protocols in place to protect their patients from sickness.
Techniques – Aside from the usual needle therapy, these clinics must have multiple ways of stimulating nerves so the patients’ illnesses heal more quickly.

Pros

  • Focuses on acupuncture procedures related to women’s health
  • Acupuncturists listen to their patient’s concerns well

Cons

  • Some acupuncturists talk a lot during sessions
  • Has a cancellation and rescheduling fee

Balance Houston Acupuncture Clinic is a wellness center that prides itself on its focus on treating problems related to women’s health.

The clinic’s regular patients love how their acupuncturists always lend a listening ear to their patients. While the session is ongoing, they encourage the patients to vent so they could release stress while being treated.

Just remember that the acupuncture experts here are very communicative during sessions. If you don’t like that, you may find their treatment a bit uncomfortable.

Going back,  the clinic addresses disorders related to fertility like PCOS, endometriosis, difficulties in conceiving a child, and others. They also provide sessions designed to help women relax.

To address fertility problems, acupuncturists inject thin needles into key points of the body to stimulate specific areas of the brain like the hypothalamus and the pituitary glands.

With these organs stimulated, the body balances itself by producing the necessary hormones for the proper function of the reproductive system. Due to this, difficulties stemming from hormonal imbalance lessen.

Despite their specialty in making women’s lives easier, this facility has a strict appointment rule. In case you fail to notify them of canceling or rescheduling your session, they would ask you to pay a fee.

Nevertheless, we love that Balance Houston Acupuncture Clinic also sells essential oils, which help in relaxation at home to complement the acupuncture treatments.

Pros

  • Specializes in providing acupuncture treatments for sports injury and recovery
  • The clinic is clean and relaxing

Cons

  • Needs a reservation before they could treat you
  • Doesn’t have insurance payment options

The wonderful aspect of Heights Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic is how they help active people, especially athletes, with acupuncture techniques designed to speed up the body’s healing.

The clinic’s Therapeutic Sports Acupuncture procedure targets the affected parts of the body where many nerve endings are found. The insertion of needles or suction cups in these parts of the body increases blood flow and relaxes the muscles.

This procedure is beneficial for healing because the blood carries oxygen and nutrients necessary for rebuilding cells. With proper circulation, the body creates cells faster, boosting the clotting and reconstruction of ligaments and muscles.

Also, acupuncture procedures like cupping ease cramps and muscle spasms caused by strenuous activities, enabling the body to handle the additional activity. The relaxing properties of this procedure make it a favorite recovery tool of professional athletes.

If you’re interested in this acupuncture clinic’s treatment plans, make sure you contact them first as they don’t take walk-in clients. While inconvenient, it ensures that you have an available spot here.

Also, it’s unfortunate that the clinic doesn’t accept health insurance even if your provider covers acupuncture sessions.

Still, we’re impressed with Heights Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic’s relaxing facility. The clinic has nature-colored interiors and they play soft music to help clients calm down before the procedure.

Pros

  • Has procedures that could help reduce craving for food and vices
  • Provides free health checkups

Cons

  • Shorter opening hours than other clinics
  • The facility only has 2 acupuncturists

It’s commendable how Peking Acupuncture Clinic provides appetite-control solutions to patients with drinking and smoking problems

This clinic is a popular acupuncture site worldwide, with people from over 40 countries going here for a remedy for their addictions. It’s also impressive that the head acupuncture experts here have been treating patients since the 1980s.

When it comes to treating addictions, the acupuncture session targets the parts of the brain responsible for appetite regulation.

The procedure targets spots like the ears where some nerves connected to the brain are located. By puncturing the pressure points in that area, the nerves send signals to the brain to dampen the urge to consume nicotine.

After this, the patient won’t biologically crave tobacco products like most smoking addicts do. There is also a lower chance of relapse compared with simply stopping this deadly habit

We’re also in awe of this technique because it has many applications aside from smoking cessation. Since it targets the appetite, it could also help people with drinking problems or those who can’t control their cravings for food.

Although this clinic offers impressive results, they have shorter hours compared with other acupuncture clinics. Also, this clinic only has two acupuncture experts so they might not be able to handle many patients in a day.

Regardless, it’s wonderful that Peking Acupuncture Clinic offers free health consultations to determine if you have diseases that might be cured through acupuncture.

Pros

  • Excels in alternative acupuncture methods in curing diseases
  • Has an herbal medicine pharmacy
  • Provides free herbal tea samples to patients

Cons

  • Costly herbal supplements
  • Fewer needling services than others

If you want to experience the benefits of acupuncture but are afraid of needles, you could try Eastern Balance Oriental Medicine’s non-needling methods like cupping and moxibustion.

It’s a bit sad that compared with others, the clinic has fewer needling options. Despite that, they make up for this by offering the said alternative methods

We like how the clinic first asks about the patient’s preferences before suggesting treatment methods. If the typical procedure doesn’t sit well with the patient, they will gladly replace it with other similar treatments.

The cupping method of this clinic isn’t only focused on relaxation and recovery. Instead, acupuncturists use cupping to correct the flow of qi in the body to treat conditions like migraines and rheumatic diseases.

Note that qi is an element of Chinese traditional medicine that refers to the life force circulating throughout the body. Techniques like acupuncture are designed to cure diseases by removing blockages preventing the qi from moving in the body.

On the other hand, we love that this clinic could also provide moxibustion sessions where the acupuncturist burns mugwort leaves on the skin’s surface.

This therapy is helpful in cases of baby breeches. Some research from the US and UK has shown that this procedure might help babies at least 34 weeks old turn around in utero due to the increased blood flow caused by moxibustion.

To aid with the said treatments, this clinic also sells herbal medicine in their pharmacy. Although, the herbal supplement sold here is a bit expensive.

Still, Eastern Balance Oriental Medicine provides free herbal teas during your visit so you could decide if the supplements are worth the cost.

Pros

  • Integrates traditional Chinese medicine in their acupuncture treatments
  • Has 2 locations in Houston

Cons

  • The acupuncture sessions cost higher than the average
  • Doesn’t have an online booking option

As its name suggests, Houston Acupuncture and Herb Clinic is adept in blending traditional Chinese herbal medicine with acupuncture.

What we like about this method is its emphasis on boosting the body’s natural healing capabilities. The nerve stimulation provided by the needles helps in making the body absorb the medicine quicker, thus making the healing process faster.

During the treatment session, the acupuncturist inspects the body for abnormalities, looking through the patient’s pressure points to determine the right spot to puncture.

After that, the expert proceeds with the therapy.

The sessions usually last for 20 minutes to an hour depending on the severity of the problem. Besides the traditional ones, the clinic also provides needles that generate light pulses of electricity for better stimulation.

In terms of the medicine, the concoction is mixed after the acupuncture session, using several dried herbs and ingredients to make a pill. The taste and smell of it might be stronger but it’s also loaded with nutrients like the usual prescription medication.

Although, the full acupuncture service cost is a bit higher than average, with some sessions going higher than $200.

It’s also difficult to get an appointment with them because they don’t have online booking services. This might be inconvenient for those living far away from their location.

Regardless, Houston Acupuncture and Herb Clinic have 2 accessible clinics in Houston to make it easier to avail of their services.
