Waterside Fun: The 5 Best Houston Boat Rental Companies

Waterside Fun The 5 Best Houston Boat Rental Companies
  • Cheap prices: Boat rentals can cost a lot of money, especially if you’re looking for a fun time. Thus, the ideal Houston boat rental companies should offer cheap prices so that anyone interested can try them out - discounts are appreciated!
  • Picturesque views: The main reason for renting a boat is to take in the views surrounding the waterscape - that’s why the ideal Houston boat rental company for us should showcase these beautiful views on their tour!
  • Spacious boats: Whether it be a party boat or a speed boat, space is always one of the factors that we’re on the lookout for, so we’re looking for Houston boat rental companies that have spacious boats on their fleet!
  • ASA-certified: Boating is just as dangerous as any other form of transportation, and an American Sailing Association (ASA)-certified sailor can reassure us that the ideal Houston boat rental trips will be as safe as possible!

Pros

  • Privately-chartered events available
  • Flat rates
  • Free parking on port-of-call
  • Boats have lots of space

Cons

  • Cruises only last for 3 hours

One of the more well-known Houston boat rental companies, Houston Party Boats’ main claim to fame is their amazing, well-curated tours that allow parties to have fun while cruising over Galveston Bay!

Houston Party Boats’ main fleet consists of two boats that can host anywhere from 49 and 75 guests, respectively. This makes both boats perfect for groups of people that want to party, or for companies that want a different kind of party for their employees.

You can also privately charter their boats for a private party as well. That, plus their flat rates really helps solidify Houston Party Boats as one of the premier names when it comes to Houston boat rentals.

Where Houston Party Boats falls short when you compare them to other Houston boat rental companies is their rental hours. To be specific, you can only rent their boats for 3 hours.

Short rental hours aside, Houston Party Boats is still a nice boat rental company if you’re looking to party in Galveston Bay – they even have free parking at their port-of-call, the South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center, too!

Pros

  • Easy booking process
  • Wide space for parties
  • Scenic route
  • Interactive tour

Cons

  • Lots of food restrictions

Want to party along Houston’s Clear Lake? Then we suggest trying out Houston Booze Cruise and their amazing tour, especially when you consider that you can have fun drinking with your friends while overlooking a scenic waterscape!

Houston Booze Cruise’s boats are nice and spacious and are perfectly suited for private parties for friends who want to have a fun time. It’s also fully covered, so you won’t have to worry about the blistering Houston heat beating you down!

The best thing about Houston Booze Cruise though is that even though their boats are quick, you and your friends can still have a more interactive experience by paddling the boat yourself if you want to!

But although Houston Booze Cruise is a good party spot, they have lots of restrictions when it comes to food. To be specific, you can’t have rice or cakes, and you’ll need to bring your food if you want to eat while partying.

You can still bring cupcakes to the boat ride for parties though, and we also really like their easy booking process. That, and the Houston Booze Cruise can host party games, which gives them that unique charm compared to other Houston boat rental companies.

Pros

  • Lots of miscellaneous services
  • Professional sailors
  • Party packages available
  • Gift cards available

Cons

  • Lack of online booking availability

What makes Break Boat Rentals unique as compared to other Houston boat rental companies is the fact that you won’t just be renting boats – you can also try out lots of fun activities on Houston’s (very picturesque) Clear Lake, too!

The thing that we like the most about Break Boat Rentals is their wake surf lessons! Yes – you can try out wake surf lessons, which is always a fun time, especially when you’re doing it in Clear Lake. The lessons are only for 3 hours, so you’ll need to learn quickly!

Their captains are very professional too, and they’re both fun and reassuring at the same time! Both of them look like Jason Momoa too, which is the cherry on top and can make you feel safe in the water, somehow.

But if you want to try them out, you’ll have to book their service on their website. However, they often don’t have a lot of availability, so you’ll most likely end up calling or texting them to know when you can try them out.

In our opinion? The call is very much worth it – and it becomes 10 times better when you consider that they also have gift cards that you can give to anyone, too! It’s not available at the time of writing, but when it is, it’s worth it, especially the 4-Hour Cruise and Surf.

Pros

  • Cheap rental prices
  • Professional staff
  • Plenty of  amenities
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • More of a hotel than a boat rental company

If you own a boat and want a place to dock them – or you’re looking for a good Houston boat rental company – then South Shore Harbor Marina should be your next go-to. Plus, they also have lots of amenities you can try out for yourself, too!

From our perspective, South Shore Harbor Marina is more of a hotel than a boat rental company. You can still rent out some of their boats, but their amenities are really what makes them a complete standout.

Their amenities are great and give South Shore Harbor Marina a relatively homey feel that can make you feel like you’re on vacation. They don’t have the rates up on their website at the moment, but the pool with a swim-up bar is a nice touch.

South Shore Harbor Marina also has boat rentals available too – and though they have limited choices, the prices are cheaper than expected. You will need a boater’s insurance beforehand, but paying $8.75 per slip foot is more than worth it.

We also have to commend South Shore Harbor Marina’s location too – they’re located on the shores of Clear Lake, and their building is relatively easy to distinguish from the rest as well.

Pros

  • ASA-Certified training school
  • Chartered boats to lots of locations
  • Lots of activities to do
  • Dinner cruises available

Cons

  • More expensive compared to other boat rental companies

Want a Houston boat rental company that lets you get to rare destinations, while letting you enjoy lots of what the destination has to offer? If so, we recommend trying out Windward SeaVenture and their chartered tours – and travel for a fraction of the price!

Unlike other Houston boat rental companies, Windward SeaVenture doesn’t just ferry you around Houston’s lakes – you can charter their boats to take you to tourist destinations in the Grenadine Islands, too!

But as you’d expect, trips to these tourist destinations can cost you a pretty penny – so much so that the cheapest chartered boat with a captain will cost you $90 per hour, with a 2 hour minimum.

But if you want to save money and be a captain, then Windward SeaVenture has your back on that, too! They’re an ASA-certified sailing school – and the best part is they don’t need any prerequisites! So long as you have $150, then you’re good to go!

They also offer a Dinner Cruise too – which is a surefire way to give your special someone a more romantic experience overall! You can choose from steak, fish, chicken, and shrimp, plus some dessert options (which isn’t listed on their website)!
