The 5 Best Daycares in Houston

The 5 Best Daycares in Houston
  • Clean and safe areas: Since daycares involve leaving our children with them, a good daycare should have clean areas where children can play in peace while keeping them safe.
  • Friendly teachers: Teachers are the first adults that your child will interact with. As such, finding a daycare with friendly teachers that they can trust and be friendly can really help them acclimate faster to school life!
  • Comprehensive curriculum: An ideal daycare should have a curriculum that’s both fun and entertaining for toddlers to young children
  • Play areas: One of the telltale signs of an excellent daycare is a safe and clean play area where they can play and have fun in peace.

  • Caring staff and teachers
  • Safe playground
  • Teachers communicate regularly
  • Unique teaching methods

  • Long response time

Kido International Preschool & Daycare Rice Village incorporates the Montessori approach but adds a dash of the Reggio Emilia approach and Multiple Intelligences Theory to it as well.

With this in mind, their curriculum incentivizes play-based learning while also teaching them STEM, Art, Literacy, and Numeracy as well. This makes learning fun for your kids, which can take the burden out of studying for them!

When we went in, the first thing that we noticed was just how friendly the staff and the teachers were. They mingled with our child in a way he could understand and our child loved it so much he kept asking us when we’d go back!

We also have to mention that Kiddo International Preschool & Daycare’s curriculum includes immersion in both English and Spanish. That means that your kids can possibly speak at a native or intermediate level of Spanish!

However, when we tried to book another tour, they took much longer to reply than we’d like, which took almost a month. But we understand that not everyone can deliver a prompt reply or perhaps their schedule was full.

  •  Development kit is provided for your children
  • Curriculum is well-planned and paced
  • Teachers connect well with the students
  • Parent app constantly updates you on your child

  • Not open on Thursdays and Fridays

The thing that we liked the most about The Learning Experience’s West University is how much they have dedicated themselves into becoming a safe environment for your kids to learn and develop.

From ergonomically designed classrooms with round corners to a security fob-locked entry, you can ensure your child is in a safe learning environment. And their bathrooms are specifically designed for preschoolers too which makes potty training them easier!

Their playground is fenced and has designated areas for infants, kindergarteners, and pre-schoolers. This makes sure that your kids will be playing with other kids their age, which can develop their social skills better.

The Learning Experience’s West University is  unique thanks to its curriculum. The L.E.A.P. Curriculum for Kindergarteners teaches all the fundamentals for your kids at a pace that they can understand.

What’s more, they use a cast of mascots to teach your kids, and it’s fun seeing it in action!

However, one of our favorites is the Little Musicians Kit which allows kids to discover their musicality! It comes with cute instruments that allow your kid to explore a more creative route.

We also like that there’s a parent app that allows you to monitor your child and view what they’re being taught. It’s not helicopter-parent-y at all!

However, take note that they’re not open on Thursdays and Fridays. This can be a tad inconvenient, especially if you want to leave your child there for those days.

  • Subsidized childcare options
  • Safe outdoor playground and equipment
  • Teachers ensure the children’s safety
  • Alief ISD Innovation Education Partner

  • Marks don’t go away completely

One of the leading daycares in Houston, Grandma’s House Childcare Center helps every child out there get the education that they deserve through their specialized partnership program.

Grandma’s House Childcare Center is an Alief ISD Innovation Education Partner. That means underprivileged children, children who cannot speak English or are under a conservatorship, or children of active soldiers can attend a free half-day of kindergarten.

Their building allows your kids to play and have fun in a safe outdoor playground where they can develop their motor and social skills. And you don’t have to worry about adult supervision as the teachers monitor them every time, too.

We do have to point out that, unlike other daycares in Houston, they don’t have Spanish or any secondary language in the curriculum. And though their curriculum is good, learning a secondary language at an early age can help them be more competent.

One of the most unique aspects of Grandma’s House Childcare Center though is that they also provide subsidized childcare options. Eligible working parents can receive pay for child care, so long as they’re approved by Workforce Solutions.

  • Engaging teachers
  • Fruit and veggie snacks
  • Communicative teachers
  • Customized physical spaces

  • Long waitlist

The Goddard School of Houston has a specialized system that can help your kids develop into their best selves. This is thanks to plenty of classes that can nurture your child’s innate desire for knowledge.

They have plenty of activities and classes that suit different kinds of children’s curiosities. From Art History to American Sign Language and physical education, there’s something for all kinds of intelligence.

What we liked the most is that they have playgrounds where your kids can play without hurting themselves. They separate their playgrounds according to the program, so you can rest assured that your kids will be with their friends.

We also appreciated their teachers, too because they’re engaging, fun, and can manage the kids even if they’re acting out.

The teachers will also follow your specific feeding instructions for infants, so you don’t have to worry as much if you have a picky eater baby.

But with that in mind, we do have to warn you that they have a longer waitlist compared to other daycares in Houston.

However, the best thing about The Goddard School of Houston by far is that they take safety to the next level. Their security programs and biometric entry devices ensure that, and they make sure that every door has a finger guard to prevent any accidents.

  • Children eat in a family-style environment
  • Teaches children Spanish
  • Religion is a part of the curriculum
  • Meals are included in the tuition

  • Earlier pick-up time compared to other daycares
  • Religious curriculum may not be for everyone

Now, we understand that not everyone is Roman Catholic and may be uncomfortable with having a Bible-centric learning environment for their children. And that, we admit, is one of Lety’s House Child Care Home’s biggest downsides.

However, if you’re interested in enrolling your child in Lety’s House Child Care Home, then you’ll like that Spanish is taught as a second language.

Not only that, they also teach their children family values from the get-go too. Since all eat together in a family-style environment, they not only get to eat the nutritious meals that the daycare provides them but also socialize with their peers as well.

But we did find ourselves to be a little puzzled with their pick-up times. Though it’s only 30 minutes earlier than the normal 6:00 PM pick-up time, you might find yourself rushing from work if you have a regular 9 to 5.

We also have to mention that they have a song and instrument time where teachers and kids can participate in singing together, along with plenty of classes where your kids can develop their interpersonal relationships and learn how to make friends.
