5 Best Dog Daycares in Houston

5 Best Dog Daycares in Houston

Our Criteria:

Availability – These dog daycares must have long office hours so fur parents would be able to avail their services any time of the day. The handlers should also answer calls quickly, especially when asked about the pets under their care.
Facilities – Dogs need spacious playing and resting areas where they could interact with other dogs. So, we picked the dog daycares that have the proper play equipment and space to accommodate all kinds of puppers.
Safety – The top dog daycares in Houston must employ several methods of protecting the pooches’ wellbeing. This includes vaccine requirements, monitoring systems, foam linings in the play area, and others.
Separation Methods – Mixing pups with older dogs may lead to harm, especially for the younger ones. Thus, we chose daycares that employ proper grouping methods to sort these canines during playing time.

Pros

  • Systematic playgroup system
  • Play areas are designed to give dogs some exercise
  • Accessible live feeds

Cons

  • Inflexible admission rules
  • Limited slots per playgroup

The aspect that we love about Wag’n World is their dog group system, which they use to protect smaller doggies from harm during playtime.

When the pets arrive, they’re quickly sorted into 3 groups, namely the smallies, mediums, and bigs. Aside from that, they’ll also separate these pooches based on their temperaments so the high-energy ones could run around without disturbing others.

After that, the handlers would let the doggos play with their group, allotting cool-down periods from time to time to avoid overheating. It’s great that this daycare rotates inside and outside playtime so these pups won’t get bored.

When it comes to their play areas, we like the inclusion of slides and climbing boards on the daycare’s outside facility so the pups could get enough exercise with others. Inside, they have climbing platforms with nooks under where dogs could snuggle if they’re tired.

While this dog daycare has excellent facilities, they’re a bit strict when it comes to admissions. For example, they require a specific type of dog collar before they could admit your pooch.

Aside from the said requirements, they have a limited number of slots per dog group.

Still, it’s great that Wag’n World provides the owners a link to their camera feeds. You don’t need to worry about your pup even if you’re away because you could check their state through the live feeds.

Pros

  • Large outdoor play area
  • Has a daycare program tailored for younger pups
  • Offer perks to new clients

Cons

  • Minimal playground equipment
  • Expensive prerequisite fees

Rover Oaks Pet Resort stands out with their expansive outside playing area where doggies could roam freely.

The daycare doesn’t have much playground equipment like other facilities. Instead, the handlers let the dogs play by running around and fetching toys like balls and bathing in small water puddles.

We also like that the dog handlers focus on providing dogs stimulation to release their excess energy. With extended play hours, the daycare help dogs have an outlet for their instincts of running.

Besides that, we’re impressed with the company’s Junior Daycare program. Here, pups aged 4 to 12 months are grouped to play while handlers train them with proper socialization methods.

Pet owners must be aware that like humans, dogs need to learn how to interact with their kind. If they don’t receive proper training, pups may grow up afraid of their surroundings and become stressed when with unfamiliar faces.

Although, the company charges a bit more for daycare prerequisites like aggression tests and treatment fees. This may be the right fit for those people on a tight budget.

Regardless, it’s wonderful that Rover Oaks Pet Resort provides multiple benefits for new clients, including discounts or complementary stays in their dog hotel.

Pros

  • Many fun amenities for dogs
  • Play areas have multiple cooling spots
  • Has 3 locations across Houston

Cons

  • Discipline methods involve long kennel hours
  • Has a $15 late pickup fee

We’re in awe of the multiple amenities present in the facilities of Houston Bark Park and Daycare.

A big portion of this daycare’s play area is outside so they designed many play areas where dogs could cool off. Aside from deep pools where doggos could soak and swim, they also have splash pads where pups could play with water fountains.

It’s also wonderful that the daycare has multiple chill zones for dogs.

One of the zones is in a shaded area with a large, metallic cooling pad where many dogs could nap while cooling off. Another area is a tent with misting zones and floors designed to mimic cold bathroom tiles that dogs love during summer.

There’s also a bubble machine and bubble pit on certain occasions, which is a perfect opportunity for your dog to roll around and play.

Despite the wonderful amenities of this place, we’re a little disappointed with the daycare’s long kennel isolation technique that they use to separate misbehaving dogs.

While it’s great that they have strategies to curb bad behavior, this practice may scare pups that aren’t used to kenneling.

Also, they have a strict late pickup fee of $15. Even if you’re only minutes late, they’ll charge you that amount.

Regardless, it’s convenient that Houston Bark Park and Daycare has 3 locations across Houston. If ever one’s unavailable, you could check out their other locations for daycare services.

Pros

  • Diverse daycare activities for doggos
  • Excellent training program
  • Gives out freebies like toys

Cons

  • Unreachable during certain hours
  • The location is sometimes inaccessible due to traffic

What sets ABC Pet Resort & Spa apart is their pet care activities, which combine pet care and rewards to entertain the pups while in daycare.

It’s stellar that the daycare focuses on providing companionship to the dogs with their activities like brush times, potty walks, and the usual stroll around the neighborhood. It’s effective in making the pets feel at home even if their owners are away.

For good puppers, the handlers reward them with dog-friendly frozen yogurt as a treat. Not only does it help in cooling down their system, but it also helps prevent common canine digestive problems.

We also love the training program of this daycare. Here, the fur parents could enroll their pups in a dog tutorial service to help teach them basic tricks and proper dog behavior.

In our opinion, pet owners who don’t have enough time to train their fur babies would benefit from this program. Those with ill-behaved puppers are also perfect candidates for this training.

Although, there are times, especially during holidays when the daycare couldn’t be reached for bookings. This is because of the huge number of puppers being boarded during this period.

In addition, despite its accessible location near the North Fwy, some pet owners find it difficult to access the daycare during rush hours.

Nevertheless, ABC Pet Resort & Spa provide some trinkets for their regular customers like small chew toys and pet bandannas, which pets love as it reminds them of this daycare.

Pros

  • Excellent venue for pet parties
  • Offers dog-friendly cakes and pastries
  • Cage-free facility

Cons

  • There are certain instances of scheduling errors
  • Strict drop-off schedule

Jackson’s Place Unleashed Pet Resort & Bakery provides the usual dog daycare services. However, this pet resort is well-known as a great venue for dog parties.

It’s wonderful that a big portion of the dog daycare is indoors. Here, dogs can enjoy playing and educational activities in an air-conditioned facility with floors lined with soft faux grass.

When it comes to the outside area, it’s also covered with faux grass and has multiple plastic playground equipment where the puppers could run around.

During parties, the handlers host various activities and games so dogs could enjoy their special day with their fellow furry playmates. Aside from that, they also provide party favors for the owners present.

We’re also impressed that the owners also run a dog bakery where fur parents could order sweet snacks for their dogs. If you want, they could also whip up a customized cake for your dog’s birthday.

Although the daycare is a fun spot where dogs could play, there are rare occasions when some pet owners can’t leave their dogs due to scheduling errors on the company’s site.

Clients of this daycare should also be mindful of the cutoff time for drop-offs. This is because after 10:00 A.M. they won’t accept new pups for the daycare.

Still, we appreciate  Jackson’s Place Unleashed Pet Resort & Bakery for their cage-free system.

Their daycare has no kennels because they don’t want dogs to feel sad when caged. Instead of locking up misbehaving dogs, the handlers would take them for a walk and would try to discourage them from being naughty through lessons like impulse control.
