The Best 5 Endodontists in Houston

The Best 5 Endodontists In Houston

How We Picked:

Patient Care: Patient care is an important thing to consider when choosing an endodontist because a professional endodontist cares about your health as a whole, not just your tooth.

Hence, we chose endodontists that take the time to talk to their patients about all of their worries and strived to answer all of their questions.
Efficiency: Endodontists are fast, precise, and very knowledgeable in this area of dentistry because they only treat endodontic problems.

So we looked for efficiency in the chosen endodontists by looking at their abilities to make a correct diagnosis and even predict long-term tooth retention.
Availability: We considered the availability of the below endodontists by looking at their flexibility when it comes to emergency cases, and the scheduling of normal appointments.
Comprehensive Endodontics:

We looked at what procedures the following endodontists offered and took into account how much they knew about endodontics.

It’s much easier to work with an endodontist who can fix all your problems with your inner teeth at the same time. If your endodontist knows about comprehensive endodontics, they are more likely to notice problems that aren’t obvious at first.

Pros

  • Doesn’t rush the treatment process
  • Excellent patient care

Cons

  • Difficult to schedule appointments
  • Long wait times

Dr. Jillwen Sung has been a private endodontist for more than 15 years. Many of her customers we’ve spoken with like her philosophy regarding dentistry and endodontics.

However, others have remarked to us about the difficulty in scheduling an appointment and the long appointment times.

When we observed Dr. Sung at Houston Endodontics Southwest, people from the front desk to the doctors’ assistants were all friendly and did their jobs well. But true to the remarks, there was a room full of people waiting for over an hour.

Yet, upon meeting Dr. Sung, we liked how she embeds her philosophy of endodontics in her patient care. She helps her patients understand and determine if they need endodontic treatments or if their pain comes from something else.

Furthermore, if a patient does need endodontic treatments, we liked how she doesn’t rush her patients to make a treatment decision. Rather, Dr. Sung walks them through which treatment options might be best for them.

We also noted how she doesn’t pressure her patients to spend extra money on unnecessary treatments. But she is honest with her patients if they do need extra work.

Additionally, whether treating root canals or using an endo microscope, we observed Dr. Sung’s careful, steady hands and gentleness to avoid causing unnecessary tooth pain.

Cons

Medical Center Endodontics stands out in the field of endodontics in Houston due to Dr. Marish Garala’s expertise.

First of all, we like how the staff at Medical Center Endodontics provide professional, compassionate care from the initial phone call to the procedure itself. The office is efficiently run, with all members working as a great team.

Furthermore, Dr. Garala and his team pay attention to all the details, setting the standard for patient care.

We noted how the front desk receptionist takes the time to review with patients beforehand what is covered by insurance if a patient has it. If not, we like how they give patients an upfront out-of-pocket estimate.

Additionally, Dr. Garala warmly greets his patients and discusses their issues and treatment plans in detail. We like his gentle attitude with his patients while explaining step-by-step what is involved in any endodontic treatment before he begins the procedure.

This demonstrates empathy and care while alleviating patient anxiety in ensuring the patient knows what to expect.

Moreover, Dr. Garala possesses efficiency, as after diagnosing a root canal, he can complete the procedure on the same day with little to no pain to his patients. Plus, besides the standard root canal treatment, Dr. Garala specializes in endodontic retreatment for patients who need extra teeth care.

The one thing we did note, though, is that it is not always easy to book a quick appointment with. This could be due to the overwhelming number of patients Dr. Garala sees daily.

Others commented to us about his years of experience and his specialty in endodontics, so he displays efficiency in all treatments he administers to his patients.

True to the claims, he works explicitly with root canal and endodontic therapy. We could tell from our brief conversation with him how knowledgeable he was regarding the different causes of endodontic pain, relief treatments, and more.

When it comes to patient care, Dr. Bisquerra excels. We like how you may ask him anything, and he’ll listen carefully and give you a thoughtful response.

He then reassures you by thoroughly explaining the procedure and attending to your comfort.

We also like how throughout all of his patient appointments, he constantly checks in with them to check if they are experiencing any pain. If they are, he makes adjustments to strive to give them pain-free treatment.

Additionally, his assistant, Ana, is very competent and will follow up with you after your procedure or therapy to ensure everything went well.

So, while patient interactions with Dr. Bisquerra were professional, we noted that the front desk receptionist did not explain which treatments were covered by insurance or which treatments would be paid out of pocket.

The first thing we noted in our observations is that their appointments are often booked, so booking an appointment in advance is best. Yet, on some occasions, if someone cancels, they can squeeze you in on the day of.

Furthermore, depending on the day you call and schedule an appointment, we like how they email their patients all the forms they need so they don’t have to wait in the office to fill them out.

Additionally, we like how before any initial appointment consultation begins, the endodontist assistants guide patients through the x-rays, scans, and evaluations needed.

Moreover, to relieve patient anxiety, Dr. Cebellas walks his patients through why they have to do specific treatments and procedures and how it will benefit their overall oral health.

We noted how Dr. Cebellas continues to demonstrate professionalism by answering any questions his patients may have while remaining calm, even if they begin to act frantic about their endodontic procedures.

We also like how he ensures to get the patient’s permission to use anesthetics before administering root canal therapy and endodontic retreatment.
