Picking Season: Late February – Mid-May

What makes Atkinson Farms unique compared to other items on the list is that they’re a farmers-market-slash-fruit picking farm. So you can either visit to experience their You-Pick strawberries or you can simply buy some of the fresh fruits that they have for sale!
The You-Pick strawberries experience is their main claim to fame though – and it’s a cheap way to get all the fresh scarlet fruits you want! The entrance fee only costs $3, and we highly suggest bringing your own bucket, unless you want to pay extra.
As mentioned earlier, Atkinson Farms only allows you to pick strawberries. But they also sell fresh, leafy greens and like broccoli and other root vegetables like turnips!

That’s exactly what makes them unique compared to other fruit picking farms in Houston. But we recommend visiting them during the fall for their pumpkin picking!
However, that’s not the only thing that you can do during the fall at Jollisant Farm! They also have pumpkin carvings for kids, along with a fishing pond that you and your kids can enjoy.
Pro Tips: Jollisant Farm doesn’t indicate the pricing on its website because of seasonal pricing. So be prepared with extra allowance in your budget, especially if you want to try out other activities. |

Their apple-picking season coincides with the season in Texas, which usually ranges from July to October. However, that can still change depending on the weather, and there are times when they don’t have any apple-picking seasons for a week or two.
Love Creek Orchards also has a bakery that you can visit during their off-season. Though most of their products are apple-based, they offer delicious desserts, like pies, along with handmade jams and jellies

With Froberg’s Farm, you’re not just going to a place to pick strawberries during their season. Kids can also enjoy festival-style activities like Friendly Fires and a Berry Fun Land, too!
And since the strawberry season in Texas usually lasts 5 months from January to March, you’ll have plenty of time to have your pick on Froberg’s Farm’s large fields. That also means more time for your kids to have fun at their fun fair, too!
The fun fair only happens during Festival Weekends and comes with tons of fun for kids to try out, like the Friendly Fires and Berry Fun Land we’ve mentioned earlier. But for us, the Bee Coaster is the most fun, especially since it’s open for all ages to try.
Pro Tips: If you’re visiting during the Festival Weekends, we suggest going there a bit early. Froger’s Farm’s queues can be long, especially on the weekends, so add an extra 30 minutes to your commute time, just to make sure. |

What makes Sweet Berry Farm unique is that you can enter their berry field for free! The strawberries will cost $3.50/lb, and only an extra dollar if you want their Sweet Berry Farm picking basket!
You can also pick out some of their flowers for your bouquets! Some of their flowers, like the tulips, are only available depending on the season but their ranunculus (or buttercups), are year-round.

8. Thomas Family Ranch
Address: 12753 Hahn Rd Sealy Tx, 77474
Phone Number: 979-865-9796
Picking Season: Mid-May – Mid-June
Thomas Family Ranch is probably our favorite pick for nature lovers. Not only will you be surrounded by horses, you can pick out some of their blueberries for $5/lb, too!
Be warend though that this ranch is a bit far from the main road, and takes the phrase “off the beaten path” to a whole new level. But we think the further you are from pollution, the fresher the pickings will be!
So if you’re an equine fan, this is the place to be – there’s something calming about watching horses graze and kids will love seeing these majestic beings too! And…during the off-season, Thomas Family Ranch sells their horses and ponies to interested buyers.
Pro Tips: Thomas Family Ranch doesn’t update their social media page regularly. That’s why we suggest calling them in the number we’ve specified above to know about the farm’s conditions and if their berries are ready for picking! |
9. P-6 Farms
Address: 9963 Poole’s Road, Montgomery, TX 77356
Phone Number: 936-597-6062
Picking Season: Mid-May – Mid-June
Hours: Monday – Friday: Closed
Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
If you’re looking for an Insta-worthy place that also lets you pick fruits, then we suggest trying out P-9 Farms! Their Sunflower Fields make one picture perfect backdrop for you social media feed!
P-9 Farms’ blueberry picking costs more compared to other fruit-picking farms in Houston. It costs $7/lb, which means that a full bucket will cost you at least $40. But considering their beautiful sunflower fields, we think it’s worth it!
Though both activities are fun for kids, P-6 Farms also has fair-style attractions that your kids can enjoy too! The roller coaster is sturdy and can be a thrill for kids, and both the Fun and Roller Slide is just a generally fun time that both you and your kids can enjoy!
Pro Tips: P-6 Farms has a cafeteria that you can visit if you’re hungry, but they only have grilled cheese available on their kids’ menu. If your kid’s a picky eater, you’ll need to bring your food! |
10. Moorhead’s Blueberry Farm
Address: 19531 Moorhead Rd, Conroe, TX 77302
Phone Number: 281-572-1265
Picking Season: Mid-May – Mid-June
Hours: Varies on season
Moorhead’s Blueberry Farm prides themselves on being a family-owned, and the oldest pick-your-own blueberry farm in Texas. What’s more, they have at least 20 different kinds of blueberries on their farm!
We like that their prices are also significantly cheaper, with Moorhead’s Blueberry Farm charging only $3.75/lb. Their staff are very friendly and will help assist you with your needs, too!
The only thing about Moorhead’s Blueberry Farm though is the fact that their operating hours and days can vary depending on the season and the growth of their blueberries. It’s worth it though, especially when you consider their blueberry’s unique sweetness!
Pro Tips: The road going to Moorhead’s Blueberry Farm is hard to traverse. If you’re planning to visit them, we suggest bringing an SUV or a truck, especially if it rained the day before since the roads will be slippery. |
