Pros

  • Great quality of meat
  • All-you-can-eat
  • Great options and sides
  • Worth it for its price point
  • They use charcoal for extra flavor

Cons

  • Charcoal can make cooking slow, especially since it’s all-you-can-eat

We’ve visited Handam ever since its first year, and each time we go, we always try different dishes. And we can say, with hands on our hearts, that we love everything that we’ve tried so far!

Their sides come in really flavorful and there are tons of options for you to choose from. In our experience, you should give their Cheesy Tteokbokki and Japchae noodles a try!

And did we even mention that they use charcoal cooking instead of an electric stove? Charcoal cooking can bring out the flavor of your meats, and it gives it that smoky taste while retaining their juiciness and all that flavor.

However, since Handam BBQ uses charcoal, cooking time can be a little slower than usual. We don’t mind though, as we think that the charcoal flavor is totally worth it!

Oh, and have we told you the fact that it’s all-you-can-eat? Yes, you can fill up marvelous cuts of beef and delicious side dishes. All that for $30 – $35  for the main portion and $11 – $16 for the sides seems like a good deal.

Pros

  • Great flavors on entrees and side dishes.
  • Charcoal cooking brings out the flavor in the beef
  • Attentive staff, making a wonderful experience
  • A traditional Korean BBQ experience in Houston

Cons

  • Parking situation can be difficult
  • The atmosphere can be off due to the plywood walls.
  • Expensive prices

Yes, BBQ Garden Korean Restaurant might charge ridiculous prices ($29 for chicken feet!). But honestly, its flavor and quality more than make up for it!

If we have to pick one thing that separates them from other Korean BBQ in Houston, it’s the fact that they’re one of the most authentic Korean flavors around.

What’s more, they’re also partnered with DoorDash so that you can have your Korean BBQ cravings at home, too!

That being said, we found the parking situation difficult during our visit, to say the least. The parking lot has many potholes, making things trickier than expected.

And while we’re more than happy to pay for the price of the food, the ambiance of the “personal rooms” can take you out of the mood. It just felt a bit too uninspired for us, but our food came quickly and we still loved everything.

Our recommendation? Order their naengmyeon (cold noodles) and the pork belly. The naengmyeon is perfect for the Texas heat, and the pork belly isn’t too fatty. They might be on the pricier side, but it’s worth it!

Pros

  • Great service and wonderful food options
  • The staff cooks for you (instead of self-service)
  • Great flavor on side dishes
  • Fair prices for the quality of meat
  • Atmosphere is wonderful

Cons

  • Less diverse cuts of meat as compared to other places
  • Service can be slow at the beginning
  • Some staff use the same pair of tongs for handling cooked and uncooked meat.

When stepping inside Honey Pig, the first thing you’ll notice is the overall ambiance of the place. It feels authentic the moment you step in, and it smells delicious here, too!

The side dishes here are all flavorful and there are many options to choose from. The mandu is a good side dish option, but if you want something spicy, then their tteokbokki is a must-have.

We did find the prices to be a bit too much, but seeing as the cuts are prime rib, beef brisket, and LA beef rib, the prices are more than justified.

One thing that we did notice is that some staff use the same tongs that they’ve used to handle raw meat with the cooked ones. It wasn’t much of a problem though, as they corrected it the moment we mentioned it.

We strongly recommend the spicy pork! As someone who loves spicy food, Honey Pig’s spicy pork did not disappoint. I still remember the taste to this day!

Pros

  • Lots of food variety
  • Lively atmosphere, even during lunch hour
  • Really good flavor on side dishes
  • Consistent quality on all food items

Cons

  • Expensive food items
  • Wait time can be longer than expected

The unique thing about Mapojeong is that they’re not just your run-of-the-mill Korean BBQ in Houston – there are lots of hidden gems in the menu if you pay close attention.

The meat quality is superb, and their side dishes are all packed with flavor. We really loved their naengmyeon and galbi, but we’ve heard from customers we’ve spoken to that other options are good, too.

Though their bulgogi tastes really good, we recommend that you give their Bulgogi Fried Rice a try. They also have a Bulgogi Tteokbokki which is fantastic as well!

But we have to warn you though, that to enjoy all the things that we’ve mentioned, you’ll have to spend at least $70 for just one person.

What’s more, Mapojeong can get busy – you can expect long queues and difficulties getting a reservation online. Sometimes their website doesn’t work, so you may have to reserve through their Instagram or Facebook pages.

Pros

  • Affordable price for a buffet meal
  • Great selections of meals and sides
  • Kind service staff

Cons

  • Meat quality can change depending on the day
  • Not all seats and grills work
  • Food comes out cold sometimes

Want a unique Korean BBQ experience in Houston, without having to spend a fortune? If so, we definitely want you to give Bon KBBQ a visit!

Bon KBBQ is an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ experience in Houston. The selections all look good, and the ones that we tried all taste authentic!

Their prices aren’t half bad, either. Their lunch buffet starts at $17.50 going up to $20 for dinner, and kids under the age of 4 eat for free. Not bad for a buffet!

But we have to say that our first visit there wasn’t as good as we expected it to be. We had to move tables twice since the grill didn’t work and the seat that we got was a bit too wobbly.

All in all, the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. The food was what we came in for though, and we love just how authentic everything on the menu is.

Everything we tried at Bon BBQ was really good. But we strongly recommend getting their Korean Hot Wings and their sikhye (Korean sweet rice beverage) as the refreshment. They complement each other really well!

But we also have to give their chadolbaegi (thinly sliced beef briskets) a try on the grill! They’re not too thin to burn easily, but also not too thick that you’ll spend a long time cooking them.
