The Top 5 Organic Meal Delivery Companies in Houston

The Top 5 Organic Meal Delivery Companies in Houston

How We Picked:

Menu: We checked out the meal selections and chose food delivery services with freshly prepared, wholesome meals that use only organic, locally grown produce.
Price: We considered how much different meals from the below companies cost and how much it would cost to have them delivered within the local Houston metropolitan area.
Customer Service: We noted how the following organic meal delivery companies handled customer questions and comments and how they interacted with their clientele.
Packaging: No one likes to have spilled food arrive at their door. Therefore we chose meal delivery companies based on how their food packaging held up and whether the food arrived fresh and undamaged.

Pros

  • Inexpensive vegan meals
  • Balanced portion sizes
  • Delicious Thai green curry
  • Neatly packaged

Cons

  • Dry donuts

Many claim Nourish Cooking Co provides families with tasty, healthy, organic, and inexpensive meals.

Some raved that the name Nourish Cooking couldn’t be more appropriate, as everything on this menu is designed to heal, taste great, and be good for your health and well-being.

From our observations of Nourish Cooking Co, each dish is made with Janna’s signature blend of love, care, and attention to detail as chef and owner.

Janna and her crew answered any questions we had about their meal service company and even sent us a free meal as a sample of her services.

We liked how the recipes use a wide range of herbs, spices, and colorful vegetables. Moreover, the servings were just right.

The cuisine we sampled was tasty, and we could tell from one bite it was prepared from scratch using high-quality ingredients and produce. We tried the Thai green curry bowl, Thai tofu bowl, and their vegan donuts.

Although we felt their vegan donuts were a bit dry for our taste, they were aesthetically pleasing and still relatively tasty. Their Thai green curry was delicious and not too spicy.

Like the Thai tofu bowl, it was served with black rice and wasabi sesame seeds. Both meals were cooked to perfection and packaged neatly.

When we received our package, there wasn’t a single curry spill. However, what we really liked about our experience with Nourish Co is that when the food was delivered, it was elegantly set out for us by their delivery person.

Pros

  • Bulk orders accepted
  • Accurate portion sizes
  • Ever-changing menu
  • Pick up & delivery available

Cons

  • Expensive

Some community members swear that Vital Kitchen’s meals are vital for maintaining a consistent and nutritious diet.

After speaking with Veronica, the owner and the chef Jordan, their knowledge and creativity of making organic eating delicious by utilizing flavors and different concepts is evidence of how devoted they are to helping others eat healthily.

We noted that they prepare cuisine for all meals of the day. They also do bulk orders for those who want to order food for the entire week to freeze.

We liked how they used fresh and flavorful ingredients when preparing their ready-to-eat alternative meals. Moreover, all of their measurements are spot on, as their portion sizes are according to what you order

As Vital Kitchen’s menu is ever-changing, there’s always something new and delicious to try. While they don’t cater to a specific dietary lifestyle, such as vegan or vegetarian, we noted that you could request to have meals made to fit your nutritional needs.

We also liked how they simplify their clients’ lives by providing pick-up or delivery services. Whether being delivered or picked up, their packaging is the same.

Each meal is packaged in a way so that it’s spill-proof no matter how many bumps their delivery guy hits on the road. As for prices, the meals at Vital kitchen do not run cheap.

Pros

  • Pick up & delivery available
  • Helpful staff
  • Variety of meal options
  • High quality food

Cons

  • Price differences with portion sizes

Sharon, the owner of Smart Meal, is guided by the highest standards of integrity in matching high-quality food and service. Many raved about how although her fresh meals are the best, even when frozen for a week, her meals still taste great.

At least, that’s what we were told. We liked how joining Smart Meal is entirely voluntary.

Also, we liked the convenience Smart Meal provides to their clientele because they can either get food at their base site or have it delivered anywhere.

We were sent ten meals to get a feel for the menu’s variety and flavor. We liked how Sharon walked us through the different meals she makes and helped us find options that would suit our dietary restrictions.

Additionally, we liked how Smart Meals isn’t scared to add seasoning to their cuisine. We also liked how their meals offer an impressive array of high-quality ingredients.

Low-carb, protein-and-vegetable, and traditional carbohydrate options all coexist alongside conventional staples like rice and pasta. Breakfast foods and nutritious munchies are also available.

Furthermore, they properly identify the macros on all of their packaging. By the way, we noted a price difference between the small and large portions.

Pros

  • Vegan meal prep
  • Prompt delivery service
  • Carb intakes labeled
  • Fluffy and delicious pancakes

Cons

  • Unmelted cheese on enchiladas
  • Salty red beef curry
  • Expensive prices

Honest Eats is a vegan meal prep service that is a convenient service that delivers to even the suburbs of Houston. At least, that’s what we’ve heard.

When browsing through their website to order a few sample meals, we liked how lively, entertaining, and simple it was to explore. We liked the straightforward food descriptions.

The trial meal plan we chose included nine meals spread out across three days. It was quite easy to place an order, and we liked how we were kept up to date by text message as to when we would expect delivery.

Upon receiving each meal, the delivery person verified it with a photo. We liked how even the delivery guy was knowledgeable about Honest Eats’ different meal services.

The first two entrees we received, the turkey enchiladas and their red beef curry, were nicely packaged. We noted that the containers the meals were in were recyclable and even listed the carb intake on the label.

Do note that as their meals are vegan, the turkey and beef are alternative meat substitutes. As for the flavor of the turkey enchiladas, we thought the enchiladas didn’t have enough sauce, nor was the cheese completely melted either.

Their red beef curry was spicy and a little too salty for our tastes. In contrast, when we received their pancake breakfast, their pancakes were fluffy in texture and deliciously moist with every bite.

For those who aren’t vegan, the flavors of the meals at Honest Eats may be hit and miss, but they are all nutritious. Of course, though, healthy meals tend to come with a high price tag, and Honest Eats is no exception.

Pros

  • No membership fee
  • Helpful staff members
  • Delicious Indian butter chicken
  • User-friendly website

Cons

  • Houston metropolitan delivery only
  • Free delivery with $100 purchase
  • Vacuum sealed meals

From what we’ve observed, Eat Flavorly takes classic dishes such as ribs, pork chops, and wings and puts a healthy twist on them.

One of the first things we liked about Eat Flavorly was how they don’t charge a membership fee. This makes it easy for anyone willing to make a healthy diet switch to try a few sample meals before doing so, which is precisely what we did.

By the way, they only offer delivery in the Houston metropolitan area. We also noted that they don’t charge a delivery fee if you spend at least a hundred dollars.

We liked how friendly their customer service staff was when we contacted them about their alternative dietary nutritional products used. The staff member we spoke to was happy to respond to our inquiries and even made a few meal recommendations to us.

Moreover, their website is user-friendly and easy to order from. Their delivery service was prompt as it took only a day for a staff member to deliver our meals.

The meals we received were vacuum-sealed and frozen. Perhaps the reason for this was to make it easier for people who want to save their meals instead of eating them right away.

We tried their butter chicken meal, which admittedly didn’t look appetizing frozen. Yet, once we warmed up the meal, the entire house was filled with the familiar, delicious aromas of classic Indian butter chicken—yes, it was delicious.
