Pros

  • Beginner-friendly for both kids and adults
  • Plenty of public party packages
  • Adult nights are a must-try
  • Great events list

Cons

  • The dress code is for all ages

Apart from being one of the most well-known skating rinks in Houston, Dairy Ashford Roller Rink offers a large skating space while having amazing events with a great party scene to boot!

What we liked the most about Dairy Ashford Roller Rink is how much they have to offer when it comes to parties. They have lots of public party packages that you can avail, and it doesn’t cost a lot to begin with, too!

If you want the best bang for your buck party package, then you should opt for the Pizza Party package. It costs $20 less than the Glow Pizza package, and the only difference is that you have to bring your cakes and utensils.

The only thing that we have to point out is that their dress code applies to everyone, not just the skaters. But that’s also a part of their current COVID protocol, so we’re not complaining too much about it.

In the greater scheme of things though, their dress code is worth it when you consider that they have plenty of events for both kids and kids at heart! They have Disney Hits Skating and an Adult Skating night on Thursdays.

And no, it’s not the “Adult” Skating you’re thinking of. It’s a bar/disco-esque skating experience with a DJ which is a must-visit if you’re 21 and above! It’s fun, and you can take roller skating classes in the daytime too!

Pros

  • Cheap prices for events
  • The weekly events list is catered to everyone
  • Skating lessons for kids and ladies
  • Day Care rates
  • Women’s fitness skating

Cons

  • No walk-ins for Day Care

A cheap roller skating experience in the heart of Houston, Pearwood Skate Center

Is a must-try if you want to have a fun skating experience for a fraction of the price!

One of the unique things about Pearwood Skate Center is its Day Care service. No, they don’t teach your kids how to skate. It’s mainly for teachers and their students to have a wonderful time. Teachers also skate for free, too!

But if you’re a teacher and want to give Pearwood Skate Center’s Day Care a try, then you’ll have to reserve your spot at least 24 hours in advance. They don’t accept walk-ins for the Day Care, and you also need to accompany your kids all the time, too!

It doesn’t matter if your kid doesn’t know how to skate either, since they also offer basic skating lessons for everyone on Saturdays for cheap, too! It costs $10 for a basic class, and check-in starts at exactly 9:45 AM so remember to be early if you signed up!

And ladies – the skating isn’t just for the kids, too! Pearwood Skate Center also has a women’s roller fitness on Mondays, and the class teaches you the basics to even more advanced disciplines such as speed skating and roller derby, too – and it’s fun, trust us!

But if you already know how to skate, then you should watch out for their daily events. Other than the ones that we’ve mentioned above, they also have a Glow Skate event on Friday nights and it’s a nice, fun time that’s a great way to end your weekday.

Pros

  • Speed skating for competitive people
  • Beginner skating lessons are open for all ages
  • Good location
  • Great price point for skating lessons

Cons

  • The presence of speed skaters can be dangerous

A great roller skating rink in Houston for both competitive skaters and newcomers alike, Humble Family Skate Center caters to Houstonians who want to scratch their roller skating itch!

Unlike other roller skating rinks, Humble Family Skate Center offers beginner classes for everyone, regardless of age for $10! They only accept cash, but the price includes skates and a free skate pass you can use the next time you visit, so it’s worth it!

But if beginner classes aren’t up your alley, then you can also do a bit of speed skating on their rink!

It can be a bit dangerous for beginners and speed skaters to be in the same rink, but they do have staff that watch over the rink and often tell off skaters when they’re going too fast to avoid bumping into others so it’s okay.

They’re also open for parties, too! They have several promos that you can try, but the one that we suggest is their Friday Night Premium Pizza Party for $350. Renting the place out for $650 isn’t worth it, so you’ll save a lot of money and have some pizza, too!

They’re located in a nice part of town, too. They’re located along the main road and it’s super easy to spot as well.

Pros

  • 40 years in the business
  • They can host any event
  • Large skating space
  • Easy booking process for non-credit card owners

Cons

  • Birthday and event times are pre-determined
  • Private events are expensive

With 40 years of experience and serving Houstonians, Lockwood Skating Palace has solidified itself as one of the leading roller skating rinks in Houston with its ability to host any event and a family-friendly environment!

We have to start with their skating space – it’s huge! 20.000 sq. ft. of wooden flooring, to be exact. It’s a beautiful space that really allows you and your kids to go on and have fun rolling in your rented skates.

We also liked that they can host any event – from birthdays to small celebrations, to even fundraisers, Lockwood Skating Palace can, and will accommodate you so long as you pay the fee.

The fee is not as friendly as we expected, however. To rent the place out for 3 hours, you’d have to pay $2000. They do serve you food though and the Frito Pies are really cheesy and tasty.

Now that we’re on the subject of renting, we didn’t quite like that you don’t have a choice about the time for your celebrations. You would have to follow their set time, which can be tedious.

But with that inconvenience comes a slight saving grace. They have a really simple booking process, and all you need to do is to give them a call and reserve a slot for you and your party. Best part is, you can do that without a credit card!

Pros

  • Cheapskate Tuesday is good value for money
  • Daily events are a must-try!
  • Easy booking process
  • Private fundraising events for schools available

Cons

  • Invitation is a bit tacky

One of Reddit’s most favored roller skating rinks in Houston, Bear Creek Roller Rink is a good example of how to market your business properly with their amazing daily events and wonderful party space!

If you were to visit them, we suggest that you come on Tuesdays from 1 PM – 9 PM. It’s their Cheapskate Tuesdays, where their tickets cost $5 compared to their usual $12. Discount Thursdays is good if you missed the Tuesday – it’ll cost $3 more though.

But we also liked their other events, too – if you want to party and have fun on a Friday night, then their Friday Adult Nite is for you. You’ll be welcomed by dazzling lights and a friendly community – honestly. It’s really beautiful and you’ll love it.

They also host birthday parties as well, and they have amazing deals for them. Their Glow Party really brightens up the place, and they give good food as well. The best part is, you can buy some party extras like their pizzas and hotdogs for a couple of dollars.

However, though their parties are beautiful, we’re not quite in love with their invitation. Call us petty, but we find the invitation layout to be a bit tacky. Maybe it’s the artist in us speaking, but since it’s designed for kids, we can let that slide.
