Pros
- Crispy wrappers
- Delicious fresh pork spring rolls
- Plenty of dipping sauces
Cons
- Satisfactory service
One of the first things we noted about Kim Tai is it’s a relatively small place with limited parking. So we had to park out on the street.
At first, we were skeptical of eating at Kim Tai because there were no other customers when we walked in. But as we waited at our table, people began to arrive gradually.
While we noted the service was satisfactory, our waiter simply ignored us until one of the other customers told him he needed to take our order. This minor lapse in attention was quickly rectified, though.
When our waiter brought out our spring rolls, we were immediately struck by the fragrance of the freshly cooked rolls. The crispness of the rice wrapper left a lasting impression on our tastebuds.
We thought the filling, a delicate blend of fresh bean sprouts, cucumbers, and pork was a taste of Vietnam itself.
We also liked the homemade peanut sauce and thought it was an exceptional addition. Its rich, creamy texture perfectly balanced the flavors of the filling.
What we thought was great, too, was the vast selection of dipping sauces: the chili sauce with its spicy kick, the sweet and tangy hoisin sauce, and the fragrant fish sauce.

Pros
- Delectable pork spring rolls
- Affordable
Cons
- Too thin
- Long wait times
For one of our team lunches, we went to Tau Bay Vietnamese Noodles. While they’re more known for their various pho, we’ve heard they have some delicious spring rolls.
So we had to go try out their spring rolls for ourselves. Plus, we were told they are affordable too!
Of the different spring rolls we had at Tau Bay, one of the standout dishes for us was the pork spring rolls. These delectable spring rolls were stuffed with tender, juicy pork and a medley of fresh herbs and vegetables, making what we thought was a refreshing and flavorful appetizer.
We liked the combined textures of the mint leaves, basil, cilantro, carrots, cucumber, lettuce, and bean sprouts. All the vegetables were fresh and balanced the saltiness from the pork.
They gave us hoisin sauce with chopped peanuts sprinkled on top. We would have liked more dipping sauces, but we liked that the nuttiness of the peanuts balanced out the sweet hoisin sauce.
That being said, we thought their spring rolls could have been thicker as their portion size was not filling enough to be a meal in itself. Furthermore, while we understand that quality food takes time to prepare, we found it frustrating to wait almost half an hour for spring rolls.

Pros
- Firm rice wrappers
- Crisp vegetables
- Heavenly manjo jumbo lump
Cons
- Not enough chicken
Almost everyone we’ve talked to told us that if we love spring rolls, we must visit Old Saigon Cafe. So that’s exactly what we did!
They had a variety of different spring rolls on the menu, so we tried a few of them.
In all of the spring rolls we had, we liked how the rice wrappers they used were not fragile. They endured multiple dippings into the various sauces we were provided with our spring rolls.
For starters, we thought their veggie spring rolls were incredibly delectable.
We liked that they were packed with crisp vegetables brimming with flavor, making every bite a joy.
We also ordered their Old Saigon spring rolls, which our waiter told us were a customer favorite.
We liked that they were filled with mango jumbo lump instead of meat, which we thought was nothing short of heavenly. We also thought the fresh taste of the vegetables was brought out to its full potential by the juiciness and sweetness of the mango.
However, when it came to the chicken spring rolls we had, we didn’t like them as much as the other spring rolls we had. Although the chicken spring rolls had a good flavor overall, we thought it odd that there did not appear to be very much chicken in each one.
Despite this, we didn’t let it put us off, as the rest of the spring rolls we had more than made up for it!

Pros
- Various types of spring rolls
- Savory peanut sauce
- Crisp vegetarian spring rolls
Cons
- Small spring rolls
- Not as crispy
Banh Mi Bon is renowned for its Vietnamese-inspired street food. At least, that’s what we’ve been told.
We recently went to Banh Mi Bon for a team lunch and noted right away how attentive the staff was, and we didn’t need to wait long for a table.
Although we noted the various dishes on Banh Mi Bon’s menu, we tried a variety of spring rolls that Banh Mi Bon offered. One of the greatest strengths of Banh Mi Bon’s spring rolls is the diversity of ingredients they offer.
From traditional shrimp and pork to vegetarian options, we liked that there’s something for everyone to enjoy. All of the spring rolls we had were packed with flavorful fillings and served with a savory peanut sauce, which we thought added a rich and creamy element to each bite.
We especially enjoyed the vegetarian rolls, which were filled with a hearty mix of tofu, beansprouts, and noodles. The rolls were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside, which made for a joyful and satisfying eating experience.
However, we didn’t think it was great that Banh Mi Bon’s spring rolls were on the smaller side. While we appreciated that they were manageable for one-handed eating, we wished that they were a little larger so that we could enjoy more filling in each bite.

Pros
- Savory smoked brisket spring rolls
- Tender beef belly spring rolls
- Well-seasoned pork spring rolls
Cons
- Falls apart quickly
- Soggy tofu spring rolls
We had a team lunch at Les Ba’get and ordered a few of their different options of spring rolls.
We started off with their belly spring rolls. These were filled with juicy beef belly and served with hoisin sauce.
We loved the combination of the tender meat with the sweet and tangy sauce.
Furthermore, we thought their pork spring rolls were a must-try. We liked that the pork was seasoned perfectly with a blend of herbs and spices.
We could taste the freshness and quality of the spring roll in every bite.
But what we really savored the most was their Texas-smoked spring rolls! We thought it was great that the brisket was slow-cooked to perfection.
While we liked that their summer spring rolls were light and refreshing, they fell apart easily in our hands after a single bite.
We also tried their vegetarian Buddha spring rolls. In our opinion, the tofu made the spring roll soggy.
Now, let’s talk about customer service at Les Ba’get. While the food was exceptional, we thought the service was somewhat lacking.
We had to wait a while before getting seated, and the staff seemed preoccupied with other tasks. However, once we ordered, the food arrived promptly, and everything was delicious.
