Pros

  • Quality tires
  • Competitive prices
  • Knowledgeable tire technicians
  • Honest staff members
  • Efficient installation

Cons

  • Customer service availability
  • Appointment scheduling

Best Tire & Wheel Houston offers quality tires, competitive prices, and a wide selection of tires. At least, that’s what we heard from the people we interviewed, who also praised the shop’s selection, quality,  and tire installation.

To start, though, the consumers we talked to said they also faced some issues with the customer service. They reported problems with availability and appointments, making it difficult to get their tire needs taken care of in a timely manner.

That being said, during our own initial visit to Best Tire and Wheel Houston, the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to answer questions.

We also liked that the staff took care to price match our choices with other stores. This was a great thing because it let us know we were getting the best deals at that time.

We also found their auto repair technicians easy to communicate with, even when we tried quizzing them repeatedly in order to check their tolerance for questions. At no point did they seem impolite or weary of dealing with us.

Plus, the tire installation process was quick, professional and efficient. Overall, we found the experience of working with them smooth and satisfactory.

Pros

  • Down-to-earth technician
  • Free mechanical services
  • Efficient tire installations

Cons

  • Not a lot of staff

Felipe of Hammerly Tires & Wheels Center is said to be an honest, down-to-earth tire technician who won’t lead you astray. He was actually mentioned multiple times when we did a survey of the shop’s clients.

Many of those we spoke with about Hammerly Tires & Wheels also raved about the quality of service. We can attest to these claims as we ourselves shadowed Felipe as he provided tire services to his customers.

First, a caveat: as it’s a family-run business, depending on the volume of clients, you may have to wait a bit for service. They have limited staff.

Despite this, we found Felipe to be professional and the kind of guy who goes above and beyond to satisfy his clients’ every requirement. We noted that he took extra care when helping his clients find and purchase new tires, fitting them, and even performing an oil change for their cars if needed.

What we most liked is how Felipe doesn’t try to overcharge or mislead in any manner. He is upfront with his service prices, which are affordable, like the tires in the shop.

Instead, he always gave his clients exactly what they were looking for. Not to mention the extra mechanical services he throws in for free!

Moreover, the installation process is efficient, and he explained his process the entire time to his clients.

Pros

  • Extensive tire selection
  • Actually use torque wrenches (instead of impact guns)
  • Can install any tires brought in

Cons

  • Expensive custom rims

Sunny of Sunny Discount Tire Shop was prompt, efficient, and helpful. Each member of his staff was also helpful and friendly.

Upon walking into his tire shop, our first impression was that it was well-kept and professional. Even the waiting room was nice and cozy.

And despite the extensive tire selection in his shop, true to the company name, the prices are discounted.

Furthermore, in our interactions with Sunny, the owner, we found him to be pleasant and easy to work with. He was open and honest when answering our queries about his tires.

When observing Sunny and his technicians during the installation and tire repair work, we also found it awesome that they employ a genuine torque wrench to secure your lug nuts, satisfying even the most particular of customers. Most other tire shops don’t offer that because they only have access to an impact gun.

One of the things we liked the most, though, about Sunny Discount Tire Shop was that they not only sell tires but can install any tires you bring yourself.

If you bring in your own tires, we noted that they check the tires for leaks, balance the tires, and torque the lug nuts to specifications. This is great because it demonstrates precision and efficiency.

However, we had one concern with how the Sunny Discount Tire Shop staff handled customers who wanted custom rims.

We noted that the staff turned away a few customers who wanted custom jobs and wanted a lower price than what was quoted. Yet, it is understandable why: it may be expensive because a custom tire rim job can take a lot of time.

4. Pedro’s Tire Shop

Pros

  • Organized shop
  • Overnight special orders
  • Meticulous tire installation

Cons

  • Difficult to contact

Pedro’s Tire Shop has built a reputation in the community for blowing away their customers with their quality of service and customer care.

After we observed the company, we can state that the quality of service displayed at Pedro’s Tire Shop lives up to the claims… but their customer service has room for improvement.

When we first called their business during their morning hours, no one answered the phone until after the third time. Granted, this may be due to their shop being busy, but being hard to reach doesn’t look great to customers looking for emergency tire repair.

Despite this, though, we saw a lot of good things on our visit to Pedro’s Tire Shop. For example, we noted how they treated all their clients as valued customers from the moment they walked in.

Additionally, we thought it was great that their shop was spotless and well-organized. They also had an extensive inventory of tires, which were all at a reasonable price.

The interactions their technicians display with their customers demonstrate a clear understanding of the process of repairing and replacing tires.

As a result, we found that the installation process of tires for their customers was meticulous. Their technicians replaced and aligned their customers’ tires in less than 45 minutes.

What we liked the most was that if their shop didn’t have a specific tire brand in store that their customers wanted, they would special order their customers’ tires overnight.

Customer Service4.9/5

Pros

  • Knowledgeable staff
  • Fair prices
  • Smooth tire installation

Cons

  • Sometimes mix-match tires

Many we spoke to about Tire Town claimed they have fast service and fair pricing. To prove the validity of these claims, we observed the skills and customer interactions of the technicians at Tire Town.

From the moment we walked through the door, their staff professionally greeted us and made us feel welcome.

Every person we talked to seemed helpful and knowledgeable. The staff took the time to answer all questions patiently as well.

Moreover, true to the claims, the quality of service is fast, and the pricing is reasonable.

One of the things that stood out to us the most was how helpful the staff were. They took time to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each tire brand with their customers.

We thought this was great because it demonstrates that they know their tires and want to help customers settle on the perfect one for their needs.

As far as tire installation goes, the installation process was smooth. One concern we had, though, is that we found reports that they sometimes don’t use the same brand of tires for all four when installing tires for clients.

We thought this was strange, considering the tire quality should be the same for all four tires, and different tire brands may have different tread wear.
