The 10 Best Vegan Brunch Spots in Houston That are Worth Your Money

vegan-brunch-houston

Did you know that Houston was considered as one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the United States in 2021? They placed 6th overall, with a total of 312 vegan-friendly restaurants – and they’re still growing to this day!

With a solid amount of vegan restaurants up their repertoire, one or two of them are bound to offer brunches. That’s doubly impressive – especially when you consider that some brunch staples, like egg dishes, are really hard to veganize.

So strap on your (vegan) leather boots and get ready as we give you a rundown on some of Houston’s vegan Brunch spots you can try out!

1. Mo’ Better Brews

Address: 1201 Southmore Blvd, Houston, TX 77004

Phone Number: 832-740-4297

Website

Hours: Monday: Closed

Tuesday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

A black-owned vegan restaurant in Houston that has carved out their niche on vegan soul food, Mo’ Better Brews also has great vegan brunch options available! They have an impressive menu variety, from vegan staples to vegan twists of regular dishes.

What we like the most about Mo’ Better Brews is that they vegan-ized stereotypical soul food. Their brunch menu has Boudin Sushi Rolls and Lump Crab Gumbo, and both are vegan, without compromising flavor!

However, prices are a tad expensive here. The Boudin Sushi Rolls and the Lump Crab Gumbo cost $15 and $20 respectively, which sets you back quite a bit for a single meal. But we all know that eating healthy isn’t exactly cheap.

Nevertheless, Mo’ Better Brews also has sweet vegan brunch options available if you don’t feel like having soul food too! Their Hot Honey Ice Cream Waffle costs $16, and is made with their signature waffles plus a scoop of Sauce Co. Creamery’s ice cream!

Pro Tips:
Mo’ Better Brews can have a longer wait time on peak days, usually 30-45 minutes. So visit during non-peak hours or make sure you don’t go on an empty stomach!

2. Flower Child

Address: 1101 Uptown Park Blvd #C – 6, Houston, TX 77056

Phone Number: 713-730-4261

Website

Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

One of the more popular vegan brunch spots in Houston, Flower Child has 3 locations in the city alone – specifically, their Uptown location! It has a natural, airy atmosphere that makes them worthy of their nature-inspired name!*.

Yes, Flower Child doesn’t have a specific brunch menu per se, but they make up for it by providing menu options for non-vegan and vegetarians as well. The Turkey & Avocado Cobb is a good brunch pick in our eyes!

But where Flower Child stands out is with their vegan menu options. They have plenty of unique, refreshing options that you can’t find anywhere, like their Thai Dye Wraps and Mushroom Bolognese vegan bowl.

Pro Tips:
Flower Child only has two bathrooms, and it can take a long time for them to open up, especially during their peak hours. If you plan to dine in, we suggest using the nearby building’s restrooms if the line is crowded!

3. Hobbit Cafe

Address: 2243 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77098

Phone Number: 713-526-5460

Website

Hours: Sunday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Sci-fi vegan nerds, unite – Hobbit Cafe’s unique food and an even more unique atmosphere (they’re placed underneath a giant oak tree!) gives them a distinct charm that’s unlike other vegan brunch spots in Houston yet.

Hobbit Cafe’s wide array of astounding vegan options are a must-try, especially their Fellowship Platter if you’re looking for more variety with your meals. However, if you’re looking for something more filling then we recommend trying out the Valinor.

The serving size is relatively big for the price too, which is a nice touch. That, and the fact that they can also provide non-vegan and vegetarian food with impeccable flavors gives everyone some extra incentive to visit them!

Pro Tips:
Though they have plenty of good food options to choose from, the checks can take a lot more to get to your table. You can’t expedite the check, but you can tell them at least 30 minutes into eating so that you can get your check on time!

4. Korny Vibes

Address: 403 Westheimer Rd Houston, Texas 77006

Phone Number: (713) 485-4609

Website

Hours: Monday: Closed

Tuesday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

A bit of a hush-hush vegan brunch spot in Houston, Korny Vibes is not at all corny, especially since they provide a good twist on the vegan food that everyone’s familiar with, along with plenty of other vegan alternative options for you, too.

If vegan burgers aren’t your jam, Korny Vibes also has 2 Vegan Box Tacos, one bean and one with vegan cheese. The box costs $1.69 too, which is relatively cheap when you compare them to other vegan tacos in Houston.

That’s exactly Korny Vibes’ charm – they’re cheap. No other vegan brunch spots in Houston offer healthy alternatives as cheap and as Korny Vibes does, especially their Boneless Wyngs (yes, with a y)! Add some Ranch to it, and you’re in for a good time.

Pro Tips:
Though their prices are good, you can’t make any edits to their menu – you can’t even add a bit of birria meat on the side! But you can always get some extra sauce for the Boneless Wyngs, which is a nice touch.

Phone Number: 281-988-5666

If you’re on the lookout for a vegan twist on Chinese food, then we recommend trying out San San Tofu for their unique menu options! Imagine, vegan bao and filling, $5.50 salad rolls, and you’ll be right on the money.

Just as their name implies, San San Tofu’s specialty tofu items are a must-try. The Tofu Salad Roll, specifically – the tofu adds a touch of protein to the meal, and you can get them for as little as $5.50, which is the icing on top.

But if you don’t feel like having tofu, then they also have vegan-friendly baos and noodles as well. The Vegan Seafood White Noodle, specifically! It has a large serving size, and it tastes exactly like seafood, all without the fishy taste!

Pro Tips:
San San Tofu doesn’t produce any receipts, which is good for saving the planet a little bit. But it’s not as good if, like us,  you’re looking to monitor your finances with receipts.

Phone Number: 713-814-8865

Although they’re relatively well-known, what we like the most about Soul Food Vegan is that they continuously provide vegans with a good, healthy twist on Houston’s favorite soul food.

Their menu has an astounding amount of variety in their vegan options. Soul Food Vegan has vegan everything – Smoked Barbecue, Beef Tips and Gravy, and even Mardi Gras Tacos. And yes, you can eat them if you’re practicing lent as well!

They’re also located right off of Emancipation Park, which means that they’re relatively easy to find compared to other vegan brunch spots in Houston. The good location, plus the quaint atmosphere, gives it a unique vibe, which is a welcome change.

Pro Tips:
We recommend bringing a little extra cash if you’re visiting Soul Food Vegan. They can charge a bit extra compared to the prices that they’ve listed online, especially with their salads.

7. Heartbeet

Website

Hours: Sunday – Wednesday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Thursday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM

With a name as unique as Heartbeet, you’d expect them to have plenty of healthy food options for you to choose from – and you’d be right! Heartbeet vegan-ifies everything on their menu, but also has options for those with allergens as well.

Heartbeet has plenty of menu options for vegans to try out, and some of them can be eaten by those with gluten and peanut allergy too! The Tofu Migas are vegan, gluten-free, and peanut-free – and it has a good flavor profile as well.

What makes Heartbeet completely unique though is that they have a good selection of drinks for you to choose from. The Aperol Spritz and Mimosas are brunch staples, but they also have a large Mimosa Carafe if you’re hanging out with plenty of people!

Heartbeet also has a rotating daily special for their brunch food too! That, and when you consider that they have their brunch menu has daily means that you can visit them every single day

Pro Tips:
Heartbeet takes a longer time to serve their meals compared to other vegan brunch spots in Houston, even during slower days. We suggest bringing your own water bottle to keep you (somewhat) full while waiting,

8. green seed vegan

Address: 4320 Almeda Rd, Houston, TX 77004

Phone Number: 844-365-8346

Website

Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

We’d like to think of green seed vegan as a true blue (or green) vegan brunch spot in Houston. After all, they’re one of the few places in Houston that offers fully raw, 100% vegan meals on their menu.

green seed vegan’s raw menu has plenty of creative menu options for you to choose from, especially the Rockin Tacos. However, if you’re looking for something different, then we suggest the Rawrrito for its uniquely crunchy zucchini bacon.

But raw food isn’t for everyone, and green seed onion still has other options, like paninis and handheld options as well! We suggest trying out the PB&J and green seed Burger respectively from the two menus if you’re looking for a more filling option!

Pro Tips:
Although the raw menu has plenty of good options, we still can’t fully recommend them if you have a more sensitive stomach, But if you really want to try it out, then the Rawrrito we suggested above can be your best pick.

9. Trendy Vegan

Address: 3821 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77027

Phone Number: 713-621-9488

Website

Hours: Monday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 8:45 PM

One of Houston’s trendier vegan brunch spots, Trendy Vegan lives up to their name by vegan-ifying iconic dishes! Imagine, vegan dumplings and bao, along with vegan versions of other fan-favorites like General Tso Tofu, too!

Don’t knock it until you try it, especially the General Tso Tofu! It’s just as unique as it sounds like, and the flavor profile of the sauce fully goes well with the tofu. But if you don’t feel like having something sweet and spicy, then they also make vegan Ramen!

Trendy Vegan also has a convenient location too, being only a couple of blocks away from the local Costco. This makes them easier to find, along with being a lot more convenient compared to other vegan brunch spots in Houston.

Pro Tips:
Although Trendy Vegan buffet sounds tempting, we don’t recommend it for you. The food can be a bit stale at times, and they charge an 18% service fee for larger parties.

10. Ginger Mule

Address: 449 W 19th St Suite C-200, Houston, TX 77008

Phone Number: 713-876-4768

Website

Hours: Monday: Closed

Tuesday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

One of the top-rated Houston vegan brunch restaurants in Yelp. Ginger Mule’s unique brunch menu items give them a certain charm. After all, they put a vegetarian and vegan-friendly twist to breakfast food – imagine, vegan breakfast tacos!

Yes, their food can cost a lot. The Breakfast Taco costs $14 for 3 pieces, along with their other brunch options like the Vegan Omelets, which can be a good pick if you’re looking for a vegan twist on a brunch staple.

But where Ginger Mule completely goes off the beaten path in the best possible way is with their Cacao Ceremony that you can take part in every Tuesdays to Fridays from 2 PM to 6 PM.

Think of the Ceremony as getting rid of your problems and channeling the negative energy back to Mother Nature by using all-natural cacao. The cacao is also sourced directly from the Arhuaco tribe of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Colombia, too.

Pro Tips:
We don’t recommend dining in at Ginger Mule if you’re claustrophobic. Tables can be small, and you’ll be sitting inches away from someone. We highly recommend ordering through their website, or using third-party apps.
