It’s not safe in and around the area of Minute Maid Park because it sees a variety of crime especially during game days, according to Houston Police

Local police have issued warnings for visitors to stay vigilant at all times whether inside or around the outside area of the park. 

According to a report by 13 Investigates, overall crime in the few blocks on every side of the ballpark has gone up by 16% compared to 2019. The situation is even worse on game days, where crime has increased by 31% this year compared to 2019.

The report highlights several instances of serious crimes, including three aggravated assaults and one murder that occurred during home game days this year in the blocks immediately surrounding the ballpark. 

There have also been some non-fatal shootings which are usually categorized as an aggravated assault, alongside instances of stabbings, beatings, and serious fights.

Motor vehicle thefts have more than doubled, increasing from just six in 2019 in the blocks surrounding the ballpark to 17 this year on game days. 

The analysis also shows that there were 17 simple assaults this year on game day, more than twice what it was in 2019.
