HTX Surf is a man-made surfing lagoon that promises perfect waves every time. It makes use of the latest in wave generation technology, featuring the Wavegarden Cove lagoon.

Since the lagoon uses electro-mechanical systems to create waves, their shape and size can be adjusted. This allows HTX Surf to create separate parts for surfers of different skill levels.

The Bays are perfect for beginners and intermediates since it’s a controlled environment. Here, the waves are gentle and slow-moving, just like real ocean conditions near the shore.

In fact, they claim that a one-hour session here can be as valuable as a month of practicing in the open ocean. Depending on the wave choice, each Bay can accommodate around 38 surfers.

Catching a wave that lasts more than a few seconds is a rare experience. Surfers are lucky to ride a wave for 5 to 10 seconds. Galveston Bay offers surfers the opportunity to ride for more than 10 minutes on a single wave.

The real magic is that these waves can propagate for miles because they originate not from the open sea but from the bay itself. It’s all thanks to the fully loaded ships that depart from Houston, heading for the Gulf of Mexico at full throttle.

These massive vessels displace a huge volume of water that create the huge and long lasting that sometimes reach 3 to 5 feet high. Although it might leave your muscles a bit sore as reported by some pro surfers, it’s a great experience nonetheless.
