Pros

  • They perform funeral services in your home or place of worship
  • They have various funeral packages

Cons

  • There may be unexpected additional fees
  • No inquiries over the phone

The owner of Beresford Funeral Service was originally a funeral merchandise provider that sold substantially discounted items you might need for a funeral.

They then expanded to a funeral home that aims to provide affordable funeral service that won’t break the bank.

What we like about Beresford Funeral Service is how they give you the option to perform the funeral service at your home or place of worship.

This allows you to stay in a place you feel more comfortable, allowing you to grieve in a way that feels right to you.

We also like how they offer various funeral packages. On their website, you can easily check out their existing funeral packages that cater to any budget.

If you find that their packages aren’t what you’re looking for, you also have the option to customize one that’s better suited to what you want.

This is perfect for those who prefer simple funerals or for those who are looking for a more affordable option.

A downside, however, is that there may be some unexpected additional fees on top of your packages. This is why it’s important to read through any terms and conditions that are listed in your agreement.

It’s also best for you to inquire about any additional services or fees you might be needing as well.

Another downside is that they don’t address inquiries over the phone. Instead, they direct you to their website where they have their prices and services listed down.

All in all, if you’re looking for a funeral home that has different packages and can perform services in your preferred place, Beresford Funeral Service is a great option.

Pros

  • They offer veteran’s services
  • You may opt for solidified remains
  • Provides transport to Mexico

Cons

  • They don’t have good live streaming services
  • They can be overbooked

Felix H. Morales Funeral Home was founded back in 1931 and was the first Hispanic-owned funeral opened during The Great Depression.

What we really like about them is how they offer veteran’s services. This service includes completing applications for veteran’s benefits, coordinating with national veterans’ cemeteries, cremation services, and more.

This is absolutely perfect for families who want to honor their veterans the right way. As long as the veteran was honorably discharged, they are eligible for availing of this service.

Another notable service that we really like is their solidified remains. This is a clean alternative to cremated remains.

If you’d like to take your loved ones back home with you but you’re not a fan of keeping urns and ashes, having them solidified into a beautiful collection of “stones” is a great alternative.

This option is also available to those who have cremated remains at home but want them solidified.

The service that stands out the most is that they transport remains to Mexico. If your loved one wants to be laid to rest in Mexico, they will arrange transport, complete all documents, and plan for airline service.

They offer this service at a flat rate of $6,500. This is also inclusive of facility use, transfers, and more.

A common concern people have experienced with Felix H. Morales Funeral Homes is their streaming service. Even though people call to complain, they aren’t capable of fixing the stream.

This is unfortunate as a lot of people miss out on the speeches and the entire ceremony.

There are also concerns of them always being overbooked. This is another difficult problem as you never know when you might need their service.

Overall, given the impressive list of services that Felix H. Morales Funeral Homes offers, they are a top candidate for the best funeral homes in the area.

3. Compean Funeral Home

Pros

  • They offer flowers services
  • They have an online database for loved ones

Cons

  • Some services are a bit rushed
  • They have a mouse problem

Compean Funeral Home was opened back in 1997 by Gregory Compean, a former Charmain of the Texas Funeral Service Commision.

What we like about them is how they have this online database for loved ones who have passed and availed on their service.

On their website, you can select the ‘send flowers’ option, which then leads you to a page where you can find your loved one.

You have the option to send them flowers directly on their grave. This can also be done by friends and relatives who aren’t around.

This is absolutely perfect for those who simply want to remember their loved ones by adding fresh flowers. This can also be a way of respect for those who aren’t able to pass by or live far away.

Aside from their flowers service, they also have a guest book on their database that allows you to leave a message, add photos, ‘light’ a candle, and more.

You can submit this post for the family members to see. You’ll also be able to view any scheduled services in case you’d like to attend.

A common concern with Compean Funeral Home is that their services can sometimes be a bit rushed. Customers have said that their schedule is filled at all times, which is why they don’t have any buffer time in case someone wants an extension.

This is a huge let down as no one wants to be rushed, especially when they’re in a vulnerable position mourning someone dear to them.

Another problem is that customers have reported rodents running around. Although, the owners have said that they’ve been addressing the problem and that their facilities are clean.

Overall, we love how Compean Funeral Home caters to those who can’t afford the funeral but still want to pay their respects from afar.

Pros

  • They have a green burial
  • One family served at a time
  • Provides a homey environment

Cons

  • Limited parking slots
  • Might be small for extra-large funerals

Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services was founded by Ron Bradshaw and his partner Tripp Carter back in 2003.

What’s notable about them is that they offer green burial services. A green burial or environmental burial is perfect for those who prefer something simple and environmentally sustainable.

A green service means that the body isn’t cremated or prepared with chemicals. This type of service also doesn’t include an outer burial container.

The body is not embalmed and is simply placed in a biodegradable coffin, allowing the body to completely return to nature. This follow the phrase “ashes to ashes, dust to dust.’”

We also love how they only serve one family at a time unlike other facilities that are usually packed with different schedules.

This is perfect for those who don’t want to have their ceremonies rushed. It also allows you and your guest to have the entire space to yourself, earning you a bit more privacy and intimacy.

Their interior is also a bit different as they stay away from your typical four white walls. Their facility looks exactly like a house, providing that comforting and homey feeling.

You might encounter some problems with their parking slots as they share these with other commercial businesses around them. However, you don’t need to worry as much as they have free valet.

This place is also not recommended for large funeral groups as they can only accommodate around 200 people. So if you have more guests, it can get quite stuffy.

Overall, we love the homey feeling that Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services offers.

Pros

  • They have memorial websites
  • They offer funeral webcasting
  • They offer online grief support

Cons

  • Place can get packed
  • No parking

Dettling Funeral Home is a family-owned and operated business that’s been around for 11 years now.

What we really like about them is how they have a memorial website for your loved one. This concept is a bit similar to a traditional newspaper obituary except that this can be viewed online by friends and loved ones from afar.

This is a great tool to connect with family and friends as it has a tribute wall where you can post messages and photos. It also includes any ongoing or future services along with the cemetery details in case anyone would want to visit.

We also like how they have live funeral webcasting for those who cannot attend the service in person. The live video will also be archived for later viewing.

Their most notable service is definitely their online grief support. This gives you access to online counseling services, grief support groups, and more.

This is a great service for those who need a bit more help with their grieving process. It’s very rare for a funeral home to have after care service that guides their clients through this tough time.

A downside to the place is that it can get quite packed. Dettling Funeral Homes claims to fit around 60 people but clients have said that 40 people is a better estimate.

They also don’t have parking, which can be a huge inconvenience since looking for a parking slot is the last thing you want to think about in these situations.

Overall, we really find Dettling Funeral Home’s grief support service that really sets them apart and makes them a great choice for a funeral parlor.
