The 5 Best Interior Designers in Houston

The 5 Best Interior Designers in Houston

How We Picked:

Accreditation: It’s recommended that first-time clients seek out an accredited interior designer. Therefore, we choose Houston-based interior designers that have earned relevant business accreditations.
Budget Flexibility: Setting a realistic budget from the outset and discussing it openly with a possible interior designer is essential, regardless of the size or complexity of your project.

We selected businesses that employed creative interior designers who could stretch even the tightest budgets.
Experience: Hiring a designer who is still relatively new to the field is ok, but remember that someone with more expertise will undoubtedly provide you with better results.

We discussed several options before settling on the interior design firms that might best suit your renovation needs, knowing that only seasoned professionals would be entrusted with your home or design project.
Style: Another crucial step is observing how a prospective interior designer works and thinking about their methods. It is vital to ensure that your expectations and the interior designer’s methods are compatible, as each designer has a unique style.

For this, we looked at the selected interior designers’ portfolios and past projects for clients to understand their tastes, methods, and character.

Pros

  • ASID award winner
  • Residential and commercial design
  • Adaptable designs

Cons

  • No clear or signature design aesthetic

Many in Houston’s design world have taken notice of Wendt Design Group’s founder, Amilee Wendt. Her impeccable design work has earned her numerous accolades, including the prestigious ASID Award.

Others raved to us about how she’s a joy to work with and a wealth of sophisticated design advice and suggestions—that she is your go-to expert in adorning your home’s interior.

Well, at least, that’s what we heard. After an in-depth observation of Amilee at work with her clients, it became clear why she has won several accolades and earned this sort of praise from her clientele.

First, we looked through some of her earlier work on her portfolio, noting that she does both residential and commercial interior design.

While some we spoke with thought that her portfolio did not demonstrate a signature aesthetic, that’s honestly as much of a pro as it is a con. After all, it may also demonstrate strong versatility.

Moreover, we noted that she did a great job of conveying the demands and goals of her patron. Her designs were generally quite adaptable.

We also liked how she helps pick out colorful furniture that doesn’t break the bank for her client’s homes and arranges them too. Additionally, we observed how she led her client through exercises that helped them reevaluate their space utilization and make positive changes.

Her use of color, texture, and composition was fascinating, and she has a refreshingly original outlook on what it takes to bring personality to a home.

Pros

  • Vibrant designs
  • Event interior design
  • Accommodating to clientele’s needs

Cons

  • Expensive rates

Many we’ve spoken with described Erica Ooh Designs as flexible and vibrant. Others claimed her boldness and impulsiveness in interior designs led to unique designs like no other.

True to the comments we heard, Erica Ooh Designs is not hesitant to take risks, as made evident to us by her impressive web portfolio. Color, unusual forms, and many patterns stood out in her portfolio.

From our observations of Erica Ooh Designs, we liked that she was always trying new things and seeing what stuck to success.

Moreover, while most Houston-area interior designers specialize in residential or commercial spaces, Erica presents diversity to her clientele by catering to special occasions like birthdays and weddings.

However, depending on the scope of the interior design job, we’ve noted Erica Ooh could be a costly option. Pricing for her event design services ranges from $30 per hour to $500 and above for more elaborate occasions like weddings and birthday parties.

Anyway, we liked how Erica stayed sensitive to every couple’s unique wedding vision and demands. Therefore she customizes her services accordingly.

For example, she provides event planning services intending to make the event stand out by selecting the appropriate color scheme, layout, signature beverages, and more.

Whether designing a wedding or a home, we also noted that Erica cares about her client’s requirements and does her best to accommodate any financial constraints they may have.

From what we heard about Williams Stubbs Interiors, William Stubbs is the go-to guy for all things interior design. Others claimed he and the rest of the staff at Williams Stubbs Interiors take great satisfaction in their personalized attention for each client.

True to the claims, we found that William and his team are dedicated to learning everything they can about their clientele. Their dedication to their clients is shown by their design process, as every step in their design process is customized to fit their client’s needs.

Moreover, we liked how William’s work revolves around the client’s unique style while maintaining the house’s practicality.

We also noted that William and his team at William’s Stubbs Interiors favor a more natural, conversational approach to developing their design strategy. This can make them easier to work with for people intimidated by other designers.

Anyway, Stubbs’s work strikes a nice balance between contemporary and classic design—his designs have a gentle modern vibe while maintaining a timeless quality of tranquility.

All of the different patterns and textures work together beautifully without detracting from a room’s sophisticated and individual vibe. Furthermore, we liked that William and his team efficiently devised functional and practical designs for families and anyone.

Pros

  • Attentive to client’s visions
  • Adaptable in design aesthetics
  • One-of-a-kind interior design

Cons

  • Not budget-friendly

When you look for premium interior design services in Houston, most people will likely recommend Rainey Richardson Interiors.

People who recommended them to us weren’t short on praise. They claimed that projects are handled with the highest care, attentiveness, and professionalism from beginning to end with this company.

After observing Rainey Richardson on a clientele project, we were hard-pressed to disagree.

One of the first things we noted was that Rainey has the skill of assisting customers in making decisions and helping them to have peace of mind.

We liked how she got her customers’ tastes and preferences down pat and got them to consider new options. She utilizes the ability or inspiration to stretch her client’s visions while allowing them to remain true to themselves.

Furthermore, she does an excellent job of adapting a project’s design aesthetic to the needs of her specific clients.

Rainey demonstrates individualized competence in this way rather than the cookie-cutter mentality that’s all too often found in the interior design industry. We liked how she created one-of-a-kind works of art throughout various architectural genres to create a unique design for each client.

Although Rainey Richardson’s Interiors services are not budget-friendly, after witnessing her in action ourselves, we think they’re worth it for a lot of people. The homes she designs reflect not only the personalities of her clients but their passions too.

Moreover, we liked how she sped up the interior design process. On the project we observed, Rainey assisted her client in ordering and staging their entire furnishings package, including all appliances and fixtures, well before construction.

Doing this ensured that the client’s project was completed without disruptions to the supply chain or accompanying price hikes. It sped up the project’s completion, too.

Additionally, the moving and setting up were completely under Rainey’s command. We noted her crew oversaw the installation and staging of furniture, artwork, and accessories by movers and contractors—making sure everything was safe in her client’s home.

Ginger Barber is known by many Houstonians for her retail store, The Sitting Room, a store of antiques that can enhance any room. But, Ginger Barber also offers services as an interior designer.

Ginger Barber’s clientele includes well-known real estate agents and investors because of the lasting appeal of her minimalistic designs. In fact, her motto “keep things simple” is a wonderful reflection of her taste in aesthetics.

Her aesthetic designs are reflected by the simplicity in her online portfolio, displaying striking but inviting designs for any home. The foundation of her marvelously harmonized designs is her fondness for a minimalist aesthetics combined with natural, tactile materials.

From what we’ve been told by Ginger’s former clients, she favors a minimalist white-and-gray aesthetic while decorating houses. She likes to let the elements do their thing, so she uses mostly white, beige, or a faint repeated pattern.

Moreover, we noted Ginger has a wealth of experience in both modern and classic interior design. This was reflected in her client’s homes, we thought.

Furthermore, she specializes in rustic, farmhouse, and cottagecore styles. We liked how she does her best to make her customers feel as though they have moved to a remote cabin in the woods.

Whether portraying a house as reminiscent of a log cabin, or a more modern minimalistic design, Ginger’s unerring ability to spot understated elegance shines through.

However, do note that on Ginger Barber’s website, we couldn’t find information on when is the best time to contact her, as there were no hours of operation presented.
