Pros
- Accepts many forms of payment and financing options
- Offers telehealth consultations
- You can submit your patient forms online
Cons
- Some patients have been wrongly billed
- There are reports of staff being rude over the phone
Dr. Alfi has over 14 years of experience in the medical field. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree back in 2006 and his Medical Degree (MD) back in 2009.
He’s a board-certified surgeon that’s a member of many professional organizations such as The American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, and more.
What we like about Dr. Alfi is that he accepts many forms of payment and financing options. He also has a very long and impressive list of the different insurance plans that he accepts.
He also offers telehealth consultations for those who can’t make it to his office or prefers having a conversation online. This provides extra convenience for his present and potential patients.
If you’re a new patient, you can also submit your patient form online which lessens the hassle of having to fill it up on your arrival. His website also gives detailed information about what to bring and what to expect on your first visit to his clinic.
A problem that some customers have experienced is with their billing company. Many patients have been billed even if their insurance already covers the procedure.
Although they were told that they’d be issued refunds, the expected time for the amount to be returned to their account could take up to more than a month.
There have also been complaints about some staff being rude over the phone. Although Dr. Alfi himself offers satisfactory service, their billing and phone staff might provide a bit of a hassle.
2. Dr. Thai M. Vuu, DDS, MD

Pros
- Same-day dental implant options
- Quick to perform urgent procedures
- Has excellent bedside manners and aftercare
Cons
- Long wait times
- Does not offer telehealth services
- Does not offer weekend visits
Dr. Vuu has over 14 years of experience in the medical field. He has received extensive training in facial trauma, jaw reconstruction, corrective jaw surgery, and more.
He’s board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has also received two professional awards, Top Dentist in 2020 and Houston’s Top Docs in 2014.
What we really like about Dr. Vuu is that he offers same-day dental implant options. This is a great offer especially since most clinics have a long wait time for these procedures.
Many patients have experienced coming into his clinic needing some procedures done and Dr. Vuu offering to perform them on the same day. This significantly lessens the wait time and anxiety for patients.
Dr. Vuu is also known for his great bedside manner. He personally checks up on his patients the day after their procedure to provide specific aftercare instructions.
A downside, however, is that he may have longer wait times on the day of your appointment. This can be a hassle, especially if you don’t want to spend hours in a waiting room.
He also doesn’t offer telehealth services and his clinic does not offer weekend visits. This may serve as a hassle for those who are only free on the weekends.
However, if you’ve got time during the weekdays and you’re willing to wait a while, you might want to give Dr. Vuu a visit.

Pros
- Offers oral pathology and biopsy
- Great bedside manners from both the staff and surgeon
Cons
- Closed on weekends
- Some patients did not receive any aftercare treatment
- Difficult to schedule appointments
Dr. Lopez has over 18 years of medical experience and has been practicing in the Houston area since 2001.
He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and still continues with his education to keep himself updated with the dental field.
He’s also a member of several organizations, such as the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and more.
What we like about Dr. Lopez is that he offers oral pathology and biopsy services. This service allows you to detect conditions or abnormalities early on.
Biopsy and pathology services are rarely offered along with other oral surgery procedures. This makes Dr. Lopez a great choice for those who also want to focus on preventive care.
It’s also commendable how both Dr. Lopez and his surgical and office staff have great bedside manners. This can make your entire dental visit a lot more comfortable.
It’s unfortunate, however, how hard it is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Lopez. Since he’s the only dentist in his practice and they’re closed on the weekends, there are much fewer slots available.
There have also been concerns about patients not receiving any aftercare treatment. This can be a huge concern, especially for those who want reassurance after their procedure.
All in all, if you’re big on preventive care and don’t need an urgent schedule with a dentist, Dr. Lopez is a great choice.

Pros
- They offer a wide array of services
- Efficient and thorough care from initial meeting to follow-up
Cons
- Some have experienced rushed appointments
- There are reports of rude staff
Dr. Hullet is board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and has had over 15 years of patient care providing him with extensive oral surgery experience.
He’s mostly focused on oral rehabilitation and provides his patients with customized treatment plans to restore full function. He also has a lot of published works on wound care, trigeminal nerve repair, and fluid management.
He’s also a member of numerous organizations, such as the Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center President’s Associates, and more.
Aside from his impressive credentials, we also like how Dr. Hullet provides you with a wide array of services. What stood out the most is his service of platelet-rich plasma.
Platelet-rich plasma promotes fast and effective healing that is very beneficial for those undergoing oral surgery. This is perfect for those who fear the long downtime they may face after their procedure.
Dr. Hullet is also commended for his efficient and thorough care. He makes sure that he’s updated with the patient until after he has performed the surgery.
However, there are times that patients have experienced rushed appointments. This is a huge disadvantage for those who like to be thorough with their appointments for their peace of mind.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for an oral surgeon that can provide you with a wide array of services, Dr. Hullet should be a good choice.

Pros
- Appointments weren’t rushed
- Wait times are relatively short
Cons
- Rude front desk staff
- Some of the staff are unprofessional
- Expensive services are recommended
Dr. Remedios is a board-certified oral surgeon that’s been practicing since 1988. He has received multiple awards, such as the UTDB Department of Endodontics Award, the American Association of Endodontics Award, and more.
He has had experience being a board of directors, vice president, and finally the president of the Houston Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has also held several positions in other hospitals over his years of practice.
What we really like about Dr. Remedios is how his appointments are never rushed. He really takes time to listen to his patient’s concerns and answers all questions they may have.
His wait times are also relatively short. This is perfect for those who don’t like setting an appointment but still have to wait several hours prior to being called.
There have also been instances where expensive services were also recommended. In this instance, it’s best to either get a second opinion or to avail of this service elsewhere.
Overall, Dr. Remedios is a very experienced surgeon with impressive credentials. If you would like to avail of care that doesn’t rush appointments and doesn’t have long wait times, you should definitely give him a shot.
