Pros
- They offer valet service
- They have live music
Cons
- Quite expensive
- Can get quite packed
Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse is one of the high-end steakhouse restaurants in Houston. They’re known for their prime beef and fresh seafood.
This restaurant has received a lot of high praise. They were voted the Best Downtown Restaurant and the Best Steakhouse back in 2021 by the Houston Press.
You wouldn’t have to worry much about parking as they offer valet service. You can still choose streetside parking, but they’re only free after 6 PM.
The ambiance is perfect for an intimate date night, especially with the dim lighting and rustic interior.
We also really liked how they have live music. It adds a bit of liveliness while still keeping that romantic vibe.
The food was great and their famous Jumbo Crab Cake is a must-try. It’s really meaty and the breading isn’t too overwhelming. Their filet mignon was also cooked to perfection.
Also, don’t miss out on their wagyu. They’re one of the few licensed steakhouses that can serve A5 wagyu and they do an amazing job.
Now, their food prices are quite high, but if it’s within the budget then it’s definitely worth the splurge.
Also, the place can get quite packed. If you want your date to be more intimate, don’t get seated at the bar as it can get quite loud.
2. Potente

Pros
- Food serving size is big and filling
- Can accommodate small to large groups
- Well-decorated and has a fancy ambiance
Cons
- Can be a bit expensive for the normal folk
- Not vegetarian-friendly
Potente is led by Executive Chef Danny Trace. They’re a fairly new restaurant that’s only been servicing the Houston area since February 2017.
They’re an Italian restaurant that’s a bit more upscale so keep in mind that they have a business casual dress code. They also do not allow shorts and hats.
The place has a fancy ambiance that’s quite different from other high-end restaurants. Potente is brightly lit and matched with expensive-looking, well-decorated interiors.
We really loved their food servings. You can easily get away with ordering a couple of dishes and leave feeling full.
Our personal favorite was their truffle pasta. The fresh pasta was tender with the perfect amount of chew and a generous amount of truffle grating on top.
Their grilled octopus was also incredible. It was firm but not overcooked and the char added such a nice smokey flavor.
We also had some vegetarian friends with us and it was quite difficult to get anything for them. They’re not a vegetarian-friendly restaurant, so you might want to choose another place that accommodates more diets if need be.
Also, the prices are quite expensive so you might want to check out their menu to see if their prices are fit for your budget.

Pros
- They have jazz night every Friday
- Good prices for a fine-dining restaurant
Cons
- The private room is a bit small
- Service is a bit slow
Artisans is an upscale French fine-dining restaurant led by Executive Chef Jacques Fox. They’ve been servicing the Houston area since 2012.
Their ambiance is romantic and inviting. We appreciated the open kitchen concept, which was very entertaining to watch.
If you decide to get a seat at their bar, some of the chefs will occasionally float around to chat with you.
We like how they have live jazz bands performing every Friday. Live music just adds a bit more life to a restaurant, especially when they play the music that matches the place’s vibe.
For the food, we recommend getting the lobster bisque as an appetizer. It’s really buttery and the lobster was cooked to perfection.
Our entree recommendation would be the Le Filet De Boeuf Au Poivre which turned out to be juicy and evenly cooked. Also, ask your server for a great wine pairing to compliment your dish.
The price points for each dish vary but overall we’d say that they have more affordable prices compared to other fine-dining restaurants. You can definitely save a bit on the wine as they have affordable options.
Their service also gets a bit slow at times. It can get quite inconsistent, especially when larger groups start to pour in.

Pros
- Excellent wine list
- Innovative French cuisine
- Fancy, elegant, and dressy ambiance
Cons
- Expensive
- The dining space is kind of packed
Etoile is another French restaurant that follows more of a country Farmhouse theme. The place is a bit fancy so you are expected to come in business casual attire.
The elegant interior definitely makes this a great place that inspires you to come in your best evening outfit.
When going to a fine-dining restaurant, I don’t want to worry about anything so we appreciated the added convenience of their valet service.
They have a very excellent wine selection. The servers are also very knowledgeable about the different alcohol servings, which made the selection process much easier.
What we liked about Etoile was how they’re more of an innovative French restaurant. They offer both traditional and modern French food.
We thoroughly enjoyed their Coq Au Vin which was so tender that it was falling off the bone. The flavor was really rich but you can adjust to the flavor with just a few bites.
The Duck Confit was just as tender and flavorful. It was served on top of a bed of vegetables that were seasoned nicely.
Take note, however, that the prices are pretty steep, especially the entrees. You should definitely check their menu prior to visiting.
Also, their dining space can get quite packed so it might not be the best place for quiet conversations.

Pros
- Excellent service
- Relaxing, intimate and classy ambiance
- Gluten-free options available
- Consistent food quality
- Bring your own bottle
Cons
- Smaller portion sizes
- Pretty expensive
Lucio’s is an upscale yet comfortable restaurant that offers New American Cuisine. This is the perfect place for those who want to bring their own bottle of wine.
Parking isn’t a problem as they have parking up front as well as street-side parking.
What we liked about Lucio’s is that they’re clearly a more upscale restaurant but it doesn’t really feel uptight and stiff. It has that overall comfortable yet classy ambiance to it.
Upon browsing their menu, we noticed that they provide a lot of gluten-free options. This is perfect for those who have specific diets they need to follow.
Their food quality has remained consistent through the years. Their ribeye steak was perfectly tender and cooked how we liked it.
We also liked the crispy calamari. It was well done with the perfect chew and crunch. We liked how the batter perfectly adhered to the squid.
We love their bring-your-own-bottle concept that’s corkage-free every Wednesday. You don’t have to pay any additional fees no matter how many bottles you bring.
We did notice that they have smaller portion sizes, which can be bothersome given their expensive prices. However, we were still happy given how flavorful each dish was.
