Pros
- Beautiful presentation
- Delicious grilled chicken
- Rich and crisp wedge salad
Cons
- Not enough shrimp in shrimp salad
- Not enough crunchy veggies
The last time we visited Moon Rabbit, we tried their shrimp goi salad, chicken goi salad, and wedge salad.
The first thing that struck us about the shrimp goi salad was the beautiful presentation, with the shrimp perfectly arranged on top of a bed of fresh greens. We savored the combination of flavors that each bite brought.
We could taste the tangy lime dressing shining through every time we ate one of the shrimps. We also thought the crunchy peanuts and crispy fried shallots on top added a nice texture to the salad.
However, we felt that the proportion of shrimp to greens was slightly off, with too much lettuce and not enough seafood.
As far as the chicken goi salad goes, the chicken was the star of the show. We liked how the grilled chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with a delicious char.
The salad was also topped with a flavorful ginger dressing that was not too overpowering. Plus, we thought that the added fresh cilantro and mint on top gave the salad a refreshing kick.
However, we felt the salad could have used more variety in texture and flavor. Perhaps it could have been better with crunchy vegetables, like carrots or cucumbers.
Finally, we also tried their wedge salad. What we really liked the most was how this classic dish was elevated by the addition of a creamy dill and turmeric dressing.
In our opinion, the lettuce was perfectly crisp and fresh, and the avocado on top added to the overall richness of the salad.

Pros
- Various meat add-ons
- Tender grilled smoky salmon
- Great flavor of feta and kale
Cons
- Kale a little soggy
- Too much salad dressing
We recently went to Hughie’s for lunch after a team meeting and tried their famed kale salad that we’ve heard plenty about.
Many people who recommended the kale salad to us mentioned the variety of add-ons that allow you to customize the salad to your taste buds while still staying true to a classic kale salad.
True to the comments of many we talked to, we saw various meat options available to add to our salad, such as chicken, shrimp, and others, as we browsed through the menu.
We opted to try out the kale salad with grilled salmon added on top. We must say, it definitely caused our taste buds to dance in joy.
Let’s start with what we thought was the star of the dish—the grilled salmon. It was perfectly cooked, with crispy skin and tender, juicy flesh.
The flavor was amazing, with a subtle smokiness complementing the salad nicely. We liked how it was a generous portion too, which made the dish quite filling.
Moving on to the kale salad, we admit we were a bit skeptical initially. Kale can be bitter and tough, but this salad was surprisingly delicious.
We thought it was great that the kale leaves were perfectly mixed with a tangy dressing that brought out the sweetness of the kale. Adding cherry tomatoes added a pop of color and a burst of freshness to the dish.
Plus, the crumbled feta cheese added a nice saltiness and creaminess to the salad, which balanced out the bitterness of the kale.
However, the salad was quite heavy on the dressing, which we thought overwhelmed the rest of the flavors and made our kale a little too soggy for our liking. We thought it would have been better to use a lighter dressing to let the flavors of the salmon and kale shine through.
Furthermore, in our opinion, the portion size was a bit small for the price. While the quality of the ingredients was excellent, we would have liked to see a bit more salad on the plate.

Pros
- Crisp greens and romaine
- Juicy chicken
- Spicy cilantro jalapeno dressing
Cons
- Bland steak
- Tomatoes too soft
- Ranch dressing too sweet
We’ve had our fair share of salads over the years, but after hearing all the rave about Leaf & Grain’s Pollo Laredo Salad and Steakhouse Salad—we had to try it for ourselves.
Let’s start with the infamous Pollo Laredo Salad. We could best describe this salad as a fancier taco salad.
This salad’s romaine lettuce, avocado, and cage-free chicken are all fresh and delicious.
Moreover, we thought the tortilla strips and cilantro jalapeno dressing made for a deliciously crunchy salad.
We liked the crisp and refreshing romaine lettuce. Not a single piece was wilted.
Furthermore, we thought it was great that they mixed the avocado with a cheese blend to bring a contrasting savory flavor to the spicy dressing.
Plus, the chicken was tender and juicy, just the way we liked it.
While we thought the Pollo Laredo Salad was fantastic, the Steakhouse Salad left much to be desired.
Although the steak was cooked properly, we felt it lacked flavor and was bland. The greens in the salad were crisp, but the cherry tomatoes were a little soft.
We thought the blue cheese was a lovely touch, but we found their ranch dressing too sweet to go well with the savory salad. The steakhouse salad was average at best.

Pros
- Fresh Mediterranean salad
- Creamy Caesar dressing
- Spicy Thai chili lime salad
Cons
- Overpowering chipotle dressing
Many people we’ve spoken to raved about the quality of the salads at Salata. For starters, we immediately noticed the thorough selection and quality of fresh ingredients they used in each salad we ordered.
First, we tried the Mediterranean salad, which was a delightful blend of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta cheese, and cucumber. We liked how the flavors and the saltiness of the olives and feta complemented the freshness of the greens and veggies.
Plus, the vinaigrette dressing tied everything together nicely.
Next, we had the spicy chipotle salad, which we didn’t really like. While the grilled chicken had a nice char and the corn and black bean mix added a nice texture, we thought the chipotle dressing was overpowering and left some aftertaste.
Besides this, the other two salads we had at Salata were delicious. For one, the Caesar salad, while being a classic, we thought Salata executed the flavors well.
The romaine was crisp, and the dressing was creamy without being too heavy. The addition of Parmesan cheese and croutons rounded out the dish nicely.
One standout salad for us was the Thai chili lime salad, which we thought was a unique and flavorful experience. We liked how the shredded carrots, edamame, and cabbage mix were topped with a slightly spicy dressing that left a pleasant tingling on the tongue.

Pros
- Impeccable customer service
- Smoky grilled shrimp Caesar salad
- Fresh crab in the seafood cobb
Cons
- Bitter cobb salad dressing
- Overpriced Caesar salad
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is a popular restaurant chain serving some of the best seafood in the area. However, we’ve heard from others that their salads are often overlooked, so we decided to try them out to see if they were worth raving about.
Firstly, we found the customer service at Pappadeaux impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.
Furthermore, we liked how the staff quickly refilled drinks and checked on us throughout our meal. Besides the friendly staff, we felt at home in Pappadeaux’s cozy and inviting atmosphere.
In terms of cleanliness, Pappadeaux was spotless. The tables were clean, the floors were swept, and no unpleasant odors lingered in the air.
Now, we ended up trying two of their most popular options: the Caesar salad and the seafood cobb salad.
Even though the Caesar Salad is a known classic, we liked how the chefs at Pappadeaux’s took their Caesar salad to the next level with the addition of grilled shrimp. We found that the romaine lettuce was fresh, crisp, and tossed in a delicious parmesan creamy Caesar dressing, which lightly coated the salad with the flavors.
But in our opinion, what stood out to us about this salad was the grilled shrimp. We liked how a smoky flavor lingered after every bite of shrimp, but mixed with the Caesar dressing—it was almost like we were eating parmesan-marinated shrimps—delicious!
As far as the seafood cobb salad goes, it was a true seafood lover’s delight. We thought the salad had a generous portion of boiled shrimp, lump crab meat, avocado, bacon, and egg.
Furthermore, the boiled shrimp was tender and sweet, while the crab meat was fresh and flavorful.
However, we didn’t like the taste of the dressing they used for their cobb salad as we thought it was too bitter, and it over-drenched the salad a bit too much for our liking.
We also noted that the Caesar salad was a bit on the pricey side, considering it was just a salad with a few savory shrimp on top.
