What we like about Black Swan Yoga is they make sure that gym-goers across all levels are accommodated. Those who are still learning a thing or two in yoga will not be intimidated with their instructors’ warmth and encouraging approach.

The instructors at Black Swan Yoga take their time in teaching the foundations of yoga. They also teach the various proper pose techniques from the get-go, ensuring familiarity with forms and terms.

We also like that the yoga studio is very spacious, allowing Black Swan Yoga to serve more clients, especially peak hours.

Even better, those who are still waiting for the next class can conveniently stay in Black Swan Yoga’s very spacious lobby. This allows clients to relax and be in a mindful state before they head to their own class.

What’s great about Black Swan Yoga is that they are open everyday, with classes being offered almost every hour. Because of this, clients can conveniently choose a class, depending on their given lifestyle.

Since yoga classes aren’t that cheap, it’s great to know that Black Swan Yoga has membership offerings. This gives clients an option to avail membership and get exclusive discounts to make the most of every visit.

Pros

  • Spacious studio
  • Offers membership for more discounted prices

Cons

  • Few parking spots on site
  • Limited business hours on weekends

Warm and encouraging instructors

“Took my first class here tonight, 7:30 flow with Amy. She was great. Best yoga class I’ve taken in a while and I’ve been going to black swan for years. Her sequence and timing were perfect. I felt so good and realigned after class. Amy was very encouraging and warm, and she was pretty funny too, which made class a little more enjoyable. The studio space and lobby area were nice and spacious; I didn’t feel claustrophobic here like how it can feel at other yoga studios.”

Judy Trinh, Google Review

Beginner-friendly yoga studio

“Sometimes I push myself to go to not disappoint Brett and his care for the students! Everyone is super kind from the instructors to other yogis. Enough of space. Instructors are mindful about the students and rotate the sequences often. I love this place!”

Another type of yoga studio that has been a favorite among Houston residents is Aerial Yoga. What we like about Aerial Yoga is that they’re relatively warm and encouraging, ensuring we get over the overwhelming feeling from the get-go.

Meanwhile, those who prefer a more intimate class can choose those held during weekends. Clients love how it feels more like a one-on-one session because of the reduced class size, allowing them to take their time in learning the foundations.

It’s worth noting, however, that there are no morning classes. Because of this, those who are only available during the early part of the day may have to look for another provider.

On a different note, we like that the instructors brief their clients about possible pain points, based on their body assessment. This allows clients to fully gauge their capacity at the beginning, and track their progress as they attend each aerial yoga session.

Another thing we like about Aerial Yoga is that they host private aerial yoga parties. This makes them a cool and convenient place to celebrate with friends and family.

We also find it convenient that we can just book an appointment through their online scheduling system. Just watch out for online scheduled maintenance or possible errors and malfunctions as they happen from time to time.

Pros

  • More intimate classes during weekends
  • Provides clear instructions
  • Body assessments every class

Cons

  • No morning classes
  • Some reports of malfunctions in their online scheduling system

Classes feel more intimate due to reduced class size

“Such a unique experience! The instructor Nicole is very welcoming and accommodating! The small class size allows for the instructor to give anyone there plenty of help/attention throughout the class. If the class is full you might bump into another hammock every now and then since the space was small. If you’ve never experienced aerial yoga before, be mindful that gravity plays a big factor – there will be some tension/pressure from where the silk is wrapping around you (neck, hips, back, shoulders, etc.) and that may be painful for some. As a plus size body it took some getting use to but after that I loved it! Highly recommend!”

“Great space it is  tranquil, quiet the teachers are great. Great class recommend to beginners and advanced.”

What’s great about Big Power Yoga is that its studio has an overlooking view of the Buffalo Bayou trails. Because of this, clients can feel even more calm during their yoga practice, earning the studio some plus points!

Not to mention that Big Power Yoga has extensive business hours, allowing them to cater to clients with different schedules, with early morning and evening options available.

It’s also worth mentioning that most of their yoga classes are heated, allowing clients to break in more sweat.

We’re also quite impressed with their music selection, making us more invested and inclined to do yoga poses–yes, even the more difficult ones!

Another thing we like about this yoga studio is that they offer weekend workshops. This is a great offering for those who prefer to take a deeper dive into certain themes and meanings of yoga.

Meanwhile, Big Power Yoga also offers yoga classes just for kids! Those who would love to let their kids learn about yoga at a young age can sign up—as long as they’re at least 4 years of age.

Aside from the friendly instructors, the frequent yoga studio-goers are also very warm and welcoming. Because of this, we didn’t feel intimidated at all.

Pros

  • Offers virtual yoga classes
  • Can access pre-recorded on-demand classes
  • Extensive business hours

Cons

  • Rates are a bit on the premium side
  • High volume of clients every morning

A good community for yoga-enthusiasts

“Terrific yoga community to get, and get with, centered, likeminded individuals who want to improve and support health all around. Also a way to meet new people if you’re new to the city!”

Great music, setting an overall fun vibe

“One of the best overall yoga experiences I’ve ever had.  From the moment I walked in and was greeted, I felt welcomed and cared for.  I only got to take one class as I was just in town for a day, but the class was an unforgettable experience.  The colors and design of the studio space were so much fun.  The music was super cool, setting a great vibe.  The ease of the whole experience felt so relaxing and inviting.  The teacher (one of the owners), Nancy, delivered a powerful themed class that blew my mind.  The heat was nice and high, lots of space, super professional and intentional in the way they set everything up.  Super safe environment, and one of the best sweats I’ve had in months of practicing yoga daily.  Can’t wait to be back!”

Hot Yoga Houston is one of the yoga studios in town that can cater to yoga students at various levels, from beginner to advanced.

For those who like to focus more on weight loss, improved balance, and expanded lung capacity, then Hot Yoga Houston is a great start.

Known for its original hot yoga sessions, Hot Yoga Houston teaches the students a total of 26 yoga postures, including two breathing exercises based on every individual’s capability.

Even better, the heat inside the studio actually helps clients in their deep stretching, without having to risk any injury.

Because of this, clients, especially those who are just trying hot yoga, have more peace of mind exercising in this yoga studio.

And no need to worry about ventilation, we like that Hot Yoga Houston ensures that fresh oxygen continuously blows in the studio, preventing suffocation.

What’s great about Hot Yoga Houston is that their instructors go around the class, carefully checking each student’s posture. This allows clients to know if they’re doing the right thing even during a full yoga class.

We’re quite impressed with how clean and spacious the studio is, adding to the overall positive vibe in the room.

While the studio is spacious, the space can still feel a little cramped during peak hours as more students are attending these hot yoga classes.

Pros

  • Focuses on hot yoga sessions
  • Well-ventilated yoga studio
  • Assessments during class

Cons

  • High volume of clients
  • Premium price range

Provides personal feedback

“Wanted to try something new while in town for the holidays. The instructors are super friendly and were helpful to me and my wife. We never once felt out of place in a new environment. The class was great, and the personal feedback was welcomed to help me get into the correct positions. I was blown away by the hospitality and the warm welcome we received. Thank you so much! We will be back when we are in town again. Melissa is a fabulous instructor.”

Clean and spacious studio

“I stop by this studio whenever I am in Houston. The people who work here are so sweet and accommodating. Mike is great! He teaches a great class. The studio is very clean and spacious. I love the cool lavender towels at the end are such a nice touch after 90 minutes of yoga!”

What we like about YogaSix Heights is that they cover different types of yoga classes. Here, clients can choose from gentle yoga, power flow, hot yoga, or even a combination of two or three of their classes which they call Y6 Mix.

This service is great for those who want to focus on more than just one yoga practice but with limited availability, which is a plus in our books.

YogaSix Heights also caters to those who love full body workouts. They even have weights in the studio, which we love.

One thing that we noticed with YogaSix Heights is the energetic vibe. Upon entering, we loved how we were greeted by their wellness coordinators, making us feel very welcomed.

Even better, the instructors are always encouraging, lifting our spirits up even while we’re struggling with our balance.

In line with the energetic vibe, we love how they curate their playlists for each class, adding hype to each student.

Another thing we like about YogaSix Heights is that clients who may have forgotten to bring mats can borrow from the studio.

However, YogaSix Heights doesn’t offer online classes. So, those who may be in search of a yoga studio with a possible virtual class offering should find another provider.

Pros

  • Can offer a mixture of different yoga types in one class
  • Curated playlists

Cons

  • No online classes
  • Cancellations come with a fee

Has themed classes with challenges

“I LOVE this studio! I have tried every class they offer and appreciate how every teacher brings his/her own flare but they ALL challenge you push yourself so you can be the yogi you want to be in the future. I love that they welcome me by name (it makes me feel special) and correct form/alignment when needed. I have graduated from the back of the room to the middle 🙂 Keep up the theme classes and fun challenges!”

 Maria, Google Review

Energetic vibe

“Can’t get enough the sculpt and flow class with Letty, Zevi or Nash. Their energy, enthusiasm and creativity are second to none! One of the best workouts in Houston.”
