Top 10 Best Happy Hour Spots in Houston

Top 10 Best Happy Hour Spots in Houston
  • Great drinks list: Happy Hours in Houston should not just offer beers and run-of-the-mill cocktails that we all know - they should offer more exciting drink options to keep us hooked (and boozed up, too)!
  • Lots of food options: Good drinks can only be enjoyed when paired with good food - thus, the ideal happy hour spot in Houston should have good finger food options that both newcomers and patrons alike can enjoy!
  • Reasonable start time: When it comes to happy hour, the later the better, especially on weekends - but start a bit too late (ex. 9 PM), and nobody can enjoy it. Thus, they should start late - but not so late for people getting off work!
  • Long happy hours: Though the term “happy hour” might make it sound like it only lasts for an hour, most of them can last for at least 3 hours! Thus, the ideal happy hour spot in Houston should have long hours for us to enjoy!
  • Good food outside of happy hour: At the end of the day, happy hour spots in Houston are still restaurants - thus, they should still have good food options if you’re not looking to celebrate the happy hour there!

Pros

  • Plenty of drinks
  • Specializes in Pizzas
  • Two-hour happy hours
  • Good flavor profile on snacks and apps

Cons

  • Very limited choices when it comes to food

What makes Betelgeuse Betelgeuse (Betelgeuse?) stand out from other happy hour spots in Houston is their pizzas and drink lists – and if that’s not enough to get you on board, say their name three times, and maybe you’ll be magically attracted to them!

Beetlejuice puns aside though, we really have to give it up to their drink lists. Though it’s the typical drink that you can expect from a happy hour spot in Houston, they still put their unique twist to it. We like their Pickletini, and not just because we’re craving for it!

But you’re not visiting Betelgeuse Betelgeuse just for their drinks – their main claim to fame is their pizzas, which we can say is true! The Highway to Hell has a unique flavor thanks to the chevre, but the Cheese Pizza from their veggie menu isn’t half bad.

If you’re looking for other food on their regular menu like steaks or anything of the sort, then you’re out of luck since you won’t find any of that on their menu. Their pizzas are filling, but you’re better off looking somewhere if you’re craving something else.

Then again, the variety on the happy hour menu is great – the Pizza Fries, to be specific! But if you’re not in the mood for that, then A Burger in a Pizza Oven is your go-to if you’re craving for burgers at the moment.

Pros

  • More posh happy hour
  • Wine and cheeses are a must-try
  • The All-day menu offers a great variety
  • Cheap drinks during happy hour

Cons

  • Late happy hour on the weekends

A more posh happy hour spot in Houston, we like how the Loch Bar offers great variety in both their food and drinks – all without the (lake) monster of a price tag that usually comes along with them, no Loch Ness pun intended.

We have to commend Loch Bar’s happy hour drink choices. Their cocktails are well-curated, and you can also have wines and their craft beers for cheap! Try their $7 House Red for the flavor, or the Life on Mars for something stronger.

Loch Bar’s happy hour menu might look pretentious to some, but it’s cheap and delicious, so it makes up for it! Their $12 Petit Charcuterie board goes well with the House Red, but the Hard-Cut French Fries is good if you want something savory.

The only thing we don’t like about Loch Bar is their weekend happy hours, which tend to run on the later side on Sundays and Mondays – 10 PM to 1 PM, to be exact. It’s great if you want to hang out, but not so good if you have a job the following Monday.

But if you’re not visiting Loch Bar for their happy hour, then their all-day menu also has good options you can try out, too! They’re a lot more expensive than their happy hour options, but it’s worth it, especially their Beer Battered Fish N’ Chips!

Pros

  • Lots of Southern menu options
  • Cheap prices
  • Plenty of drink options
  • Brunch on the weekends

Cons

  • Happy Hours is only on weekdays

Craving for an authentic, southern-style happy hour spot in Houston? If so, we recommend visiting The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar during their happy hour – and try out their amazing draft beer collection!

We have to commend The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar for their draft beers. Every beer they have on tap is made in Texas, and comes at a reasonable price, too. We recommend their Karbach Hopadillo if you’re looking for a more bitter IPA.

Speaking of their price, we also liked The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar’s price list, too! Plenty of their menu items are cheap and delicious, and you can really get your value for money with the serving sizes, too.

Try out their Moonshiners Signature Burger – it will cost you $17, but it’s a ½ lb. burger patty with lots of toppings plus either kettle chips or fries.

But for weekend happy hour goers, you might want to look somewhere else – The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar’s happy hour is only on the weekdays. It lasts for 3 hours though, from 3 PM – 6 PM. so it’s all worth it.

What The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar does on the weekends is their brunch that offers lots of food they don’t have on their regular menu. Their Breakfast Tacos plus a side of their Breakfast Potatoes is the clear stand-out, and for $18 all-in, it’s cheap, too!

Pros

  • Great drink selections
  • French-inspired menu
  • Good flavor profile on the happy hour menu
  • Accessible happy hour times

Cons

  • Expensive happy hour drinks

Presenting themselves as “a restaurant with a distinctive approach, Eau Tour’s French-inspired menu items really give them that distinct taste, unlike other happy hour spots in Houston.

But before going to the Eau Tour. we have to warn you that even though they do have a dedicated happy hour, their drink prices are still astronomically high. Their options are great, don’t get us wrong – but paying $40 for Monmosseau is pretty unreasonable.

The $40 drinks aside though, there are some sleeper hits on their drinks menu if you’re good at scouring the menu. The Fancy Greyhound is great if you want a twist for your vodka, and the Boulevardier is just a good, sweet drink we like a lot.

Eau Tour doesn’t have a lot when it comes to their happy hour menu, but the flavor profile and the price make up for that. The Confit Duck Wings are unique, and the meat’s tenderness plus the sauce gives it that unique twist.

They don’t have a happy hour on Mondays – because they’re closed. But they are open on all the other days, and their happy hours start at 4 PM to 6 PM on Tuesdays to Saturdays, making them the ideal spot for a weekday after-hour fun.

Pros

  • Outside dining
  • Lots of food options
  • $5 drinks
  • Long happy hour times

Cons

  • No food discount on happy hour

Giving Houstonians a unique twist on happy hours with their outside dining, Lost & Found offers a good discount on their drinks that you can enjoy for quite a while, thanks to their long, pretty much half-day happy hours!

Yes, you read that right – Lost & Found, by far, the longest happy hours out of all the spots in Houston. If you want to make the best out of their happy hours, we suggest visiting them on Mondays, since it starts at 4 PM and ends at 10 PM – 6 hours long!

And for that 6-hour long happy hour, you’ll get their frozen margaritas, wine by the glasses, AND their premium drinks for $5! The Purple Haze is not just a witty pun on a Prince song, it’s also a really good fruity tequila blend, too!

The only thing we don’t like as much about Lost & Found is the fact that they don’t have food discounts during their happy hours, and you’ll need to pay full price for their food options.

Don’t get us wrong, their food menu is great – especially their $15 truffle fries since it goes really well with their drinks – but the lack of food discount on their happy hour can still be a bummer, especially if you’re going to be there for a long time.

Pros

  • Plenty of craft drinks are available
  • $11 cocktails
  • Good variety of food
  • All-day happy hour

Cons

  • Wednesdays are the only days for happy hour

If anyone asks for a good happy hour spot in Houston, you can say that there’s a good place “Around the Corner” and it will still make perfect sense!

What we liked the most about Around the Corner is their affordable drinks – all while maintaining a great flavor profile, too! You can get any of their cocktails for $11 – and get $2 off on their happy hours, with the Tee Time being the best pick for us!

Their food options are really well-curated, too! The Sweet Potato Hash is the ideal breakfast food, and the Honey Chicken biscuit goes really well with the drinks. But if you’re looking for a healthier option, then their Cobb Salad is the way to go.

The only thing we don’t appreciate as much about Around the Corner is the fact that they only have happy hours once a week – on Wednesdays, specifically. Then again, it lasts for a whole day and you get their drinks for $2 off, but the point still stands.

But if you’re visiting Around the Corner and you’re not in the mood for their cocktails, then you can also try out their signature coffees, too! Every item costs $7, and it’s very much worth it, especially the Honey Lavender Latte.

Pros

  • Very different atmosphere
  • Nice drink selections
  • Great discounts on drinks during happy hour
  • Lots of events

Cons

  • Lack of food options

With a name like Roswell’s Saloon, you might expect aliens, backlights, and an “outer space” vibe. And we’re happy to report that, unlike other happy hour spots in Houston, you’d be right on the money!

The moment you step in, you’ll be welcomed by the most blinding set of neon lights on a back backlight. Roswell’s Saloon has this out-of-this-world atmosphere that really stands out compared to other happy hour spots in Houston.

Their twist on happy hour – or Sunset Hour – gives them that edge, too! You can get their cocktails for half off, and $2 off their beers and bubbly drinks, which is a huge discount! For us? Their Crop Circles is refreshing, and the corn syrup gives it an extra punch.

The only thing we don’t appreciate as much about Roswell’s Saloon is their lack of food options. Yes, their drinks are good and you can really enjoy their daily sunset hour, but you’ll have to go somewhere else if you’re looking for a nice bite to eat.

But what they lack in food options, they make up for in wonderful events! Their Instagram page can keep you updated on the events they will have, so make sure to give them a follow if you want to have an “out-of-space” happy hour experience!

Pros

  • $8 specialty cocktails
  • Lots of good food options
  • Easy reservation process
  • Happy hour menu is cheap

Cons

  • Closed on Mondays – Tuesdays for private events

Ever had the craving for a more posh, upscale happy hour spot in Houston, but don’t want to spend lots of money in the process? If that’s the case, then you should definitely give Trez Bistro & Wine Bar a visit!

Yes, Trez Bistro & Wine Bar’s regular food and drinks selection can be more expensive compared to other restaurants in the area. But if you’re visiting them for their happy hour, then you won’t have to worry about that!

Visiting them during their happy hour means $8 specialty cocktails, and good selections on their (relatively cheap) food, too! Try out their Daiquirose and pair it with their Beef Burger – you’ll be full and happy, plus you’ll only spend $21 – without taxes, of course.

Sadly, you can’t try out Trez Bistro & Wine Bar’s happy hour on Mondays. You can visit them on Tuesdays, but only during their happy hour, since they’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for private events. They don’t have happy hours on weekends, either.

That being said, if you do want to give them a visit, then their online reservation form is easy to use and you won’t have to struggle too much in finding a table for your target date.

Pros

  • Cheap drinks
  • Thursday night steaks
  • Plenty of drink options
  • Allergen-friendly customizations

Cons

  • 6 drink choices on the $8 drink specials

Although Phil & Derek’s is more commonly known for their brunch and live music, they still manage to provide fun happy hour service thanks in no small part to their diverse drink options – that you can get for $8 on special days!

Yes, there’s only 6 options to choose from in their $8 menu – but in our opinion, it’s very much worth it! Every drink is delicious and comes with the right amount of kick to it – the Jim Beam Apple Highball, specifically!

Phil & Derek’s also has good food selections on their happy hour menu, and you can get them for $10 – $12, which is a steal when you consider their serving size. If you’re craving chicken, then going for their Chicken Quesadillas is your best option.

But if you’re vegetarian, then Phil & Derek’s Spinach Dip should be on your next order! Granted, it’s not as filling when you compare them with their other food options, but it still tastes good so we give it a pass.

Speaking of vegetarians, we have to give Phil & Derek’s some kudos with their customizable menu. Yes, they primarily serve southern cuisine – but you can always edit their menu to accommodate your allergies!

Pros

  • Unique atmosphere
  • 4-hour happy hours
  • No reservations needed
  • Unique twist on booze

Cons

  • Not a lot of food options

A laid-back happy hour spot in Houston that you can enjoy and relax in, Loro provides a more relaxing atmosphere thanks to their award-winning architecture that you can just chill and enjoy their excellent food and drinks.

Yes, Loro prides themselves on their award-winning architecture. The full patio means that you can dine outside and lots of space for outside – meaning that it’s okay to dine in, even with no reservations! Plus, they’re dog-friendly too!

Loro also has a relatively long happy hour period, from 2 PM to 6 PM on Mondays to Fridays, specifically. And most of their menu items are only exclusive to their happy hour menu, too! Their Boozy Slushies are our go-to, it’s a refreshing way to get your booze!

That being said though, Loro doesn’t java a lot when it comes to food with their happy hour menu. Don’t get us wrong, their Breakfast Tostadas are great, but it’s either that, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, or Smoked Prime Bavette – and that’s it.

And big news for Loro’s – as of the time of writing, they’re currently working on a partnership with Hattie B on some of their locations! That means that you can try out some of Hattie B’s iconic dishes in Loro. It’s still some days away though, so stay tuned!
