Cons

  • No bike parking

As soon as we walked into Seiwa Market, we were transported to Tokyo. From fresh produce to exotic spices, Seiwa had everything we needed to recreate authentic Japanese dishes in the comfort of our own homes.

We were blown away by the variety of products available, including hard-to-find items like fresh wasabi and mochi ice cream.

Seiwa sourced only the freshest and most authentic ingredients, and it showed. We couldn’t resist picking up a few cuts of Wagyu beef to throw on the grill later, and we weren’t disappointed.

What sets Seiwa apart is the good customer service. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about all things Japanese and were more than happy to answer any questions we had about the products.

Seiwa offers competitive prices on all their products, and we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable our shopping trip turned out to be. We even splurged on a few extra treats, like Pocky and Ramune soda.

However, if you’re bringing the kiddos along, you might want to reconsider. From the ambiance to the products, Seiwa isn’t geared towards the younger set.

And sadly, they don’t accept Apple Pay, which was a bit of a downer for us.

All in all, we recommend Seiwa Market to anyone looking to explore Japanese culture. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, Seiwa has something for everyone.

As fans of all things Japanese, we were super excited to check out Daiso and see what kind of goodies they had in store for us.

Daiso had everything we could possibly imagine, and more! From adorable stationery and cute plushies to quirky kitchen gadgets and unique beauty products, this store had it all.

It’s a treasure trove of Japanese pop culture, and every time we visited, we felt like we’re stepping into a different dimension.

We’ve to admit, we’re a little skeptical at first. How could a store with such affordable prices have good quality products, right?

But boy, were we wrong — everything we had purchased from Daiso exceeded our expectations. Their products were not only affordable but also durable and long-lasting.

Their customer service is A+ in our books. The staff is always welcoming, and they went above and beyond to make sure we found what we’re looking for.

Everything at Daiso is priced at $1.50 unless otherwise stated. You can basically buy everything in the store and not break the bank.

Unfortunately, Daiso isn’t pet-friendly, which is a bummer for us. As much as we loved their affordable products, it’s a shame we couldn’t bring our furry friends along for the experience.

On Fridays and Saturdays, Daiso also tends to get pretty crowded, and it’s easy to feel like a sardine in a can. If you’re looking for a more relaxed shopping experience, try visiting it during the weekdays.

Overall, Daiso is an absolute gem. The next time you’re in Houston, make sure to stop by Daiso and indulge in all things Japanese.

  • Accepts credit cards

Cons

  • Not PWD-Friendly
  • Limited food and snack

We were psyched to check out Japan House and see what it had to offer. And let’s tell you, we were thoroughly impressed.

From traditional pottery to modern gadgets, Japan House had it all. We felt like kids in a candy store, browsing through the aisles and marveling at the unique items on display.

The quality of their products is top-notch. We couldn’t help but feel like we were getting a taste of the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that Japan is famous for.

The staff at Japan House were professional, always ready to answer any questions we had. They were like our own personal Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service, guiding us through the store and making us feel right at home.

While we loved the products and vibe, we were a bit disappointed to find out they’re not very PWD-friendly. The lack of accessibility options definitely put a damper on our experience.

We were also bummed to discover a limited selection of food and snack products. It was like being at a sushi bar with only California rolls on the menu.

Despite these drawbacks, we had a blast at Japan House. We recommend it to anyone who’s looking to immerse themselves in Japanese culture.

As self-proclaimed foodies and anime enthusiasts, we were thrilled to finally visit Daido, and let’s tell you, it didn’t disappoint.

Daido offers a wide range of products, from classic sushi rolls to beauty creams.

As Studio Ghibli fans, we couldn’t resist trying their Totoro roll, which wasn’t only cute but also delicious.

The staff at Daido were friendly and attentive, and they went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied with our grocery experience.

As people who have worked in the service industry before, we really appreciate good customer service, and Daido definitely exceeded our expectations in that regard.

Unfortunately, as much as we loved their quirky products and impeccable service, we had to admit the prices were a bit steep for our liking.

We were also a bit disappointed because Daido doesn’t have any bike parking.

Overall, we recommend Daido to anyone looking for an authentic Japanese experience. And who knows, maybe you’ll even run into some fellow anime fans while you’re there.

We stumbled upon Moshi Moshi Gifts & Stationery Co. and we can confidently say it’s a hidden gem in the city’s stationery scene.

Moshi Moshi’s offerings are a delightful mix of Japanese pop culture-inspired goodies, ranging from cute stickers, washi tapes, and notebooks to traditional Japanese stationery items like calligraphy brushes and ink stones.

We were in awe with the products available at Moshi Moshi, and every item seemed to be curated with care and attention to detail.

They were also made with high-quality materials that felt sturdy and durable. We particularly loved the washi tapes, which had excellent adhesion and didn’t tear or wrinkle easily.

The staff were happy to offer recommendations and were patient with our indecisiveness. We felt welcome and valued as customers, and that’s always a plus.

We loved that they offer reasonable prices for the quality of their products. The store occasionally runs sales and promotions, which make them even more attractive.

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, though, but our visit to Moshi Moshi kind of left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. Their lack of product variety was a letdown, and we were hoping for a bit more pizzazz.

And, folks with furry friends, beware — Moshi Moshi isn’t pet friendly. It’s a bummer for those of us who like to shop with our four-legged companions.

Despite these hiccups, we had a fun time at Moshi Moshi Gifts & Stationery Co. We can’t wait to go back and stock up on more cute goodies.
