Pros
- Convenient location
- CycleBeats classes are a fun twist
- CycleStats measures previous class metrics
- Exercise for a cause
Cons
- The first ride is for locals only
Conveniently located a few blocks away from the local Target, CYCLEBAR is a must-visit for Houstonians who want a more fun twist on keeping shape with their excellent spinning class!
CYCLEBAR’s approach to spin classes really makes the sessions that much more fun than expected. CYCLEBAR’s CycleBeats has a tailored playlist that can help you get the blood pumping and motivate you – and the playlist depends on the instructor, too!
Speaking of their instructors, unlike other spinning classes in Houston, they don’t use a whistle to get your attention. They’ll give you instructions and guide you the right way, which gives off that sense of familiarity.
Their CycleStats also help you keep your fitness in check, since their bikes measure your key statistics, along with sending you e-mail notifications of how you did which can help you keep track of your journey.
But if you’re not a Houston resident, then you’re better off signing up for a spinning class somewhere else since CYCLEBAR only offers its first ride to locals.
Then again, if you are a local, you’ll not just be burning your calories, but helping others in your journey as well. CYCLEBAR’s CycleGives program is a charity program that gives you a 50-minute ride with their instructor for a greater purpose.

Pros
- The online app makes for easy bookings
- Fun, inclusive atmosphere
- Their online store offers comfortable gym wear
- Online app allows you to choose your spot
Cons
- Very app-reliant
Probably one of the most convenient spinning classes in Houston, for the people takes convenience to the next level by using an app where you can book, schedule, and even pay for your appointment, too!
Their classes are nice, too! for the people have a fun, inclusive atmosphere where you can really feel welcome. Their instructors make sure that you’ll feel this too, and their app lets you reserve a class depending on the instructor.
And for $60 for 3 classes on your first time, it’s worth it for us! The instructors are fun and encouraging. We went with Tyler’s class for our first time, and he was endearing and fun – the “good vibes” on their website’s bio is the truth!
One thing about for the people though is that they’re very app-reliant, and you’ll have to download the app to access pretty much everything they have.
That being said though, their app also allows you to choose a spot for you to cycle in. So if you’re already familiar with a bike, then you can reserve that bike for your next for the people session.
We also have to mention their online shop, too! for the people’s online store offers the typical gym wear, but they also have chic options in there, too. The Lulumemon tank top they have is pretty and breathable, and it’s cheaper compared to their store.

Pros
- Lots of branches all over the US
- Good for first-time riders
- At-home bikes available
- Plenty of professional trainers
Cons
- Memberships can be expensive
What we liked the most about SoulCycle is the fact that they have a beginner-friendly approach to spinning classes by providing unlimited, 2-week access to their classes for $99.
SoulCycle has branches all over the U.S., too, which means that it doesn’t matter if you’re in Houston or New York – they have branches that you can visit and feel the burn, too! Plus, they also have a branch in London as well.
Their instructors make the experience a lot more fun, too! They have lively classes that can really make every session fun. Joselyn has a very commanding and fun atmosphere that makes her 9:30 class a blast to be in.
That being said though, their memberships can be pricier compared to other spinning classes in Houston. To put into perspective, 4 classes under their membership program, the SoulRenew, costs $113.
But the SoulRenew membership refills automatically every month. And as they put it on their website, SoulRenew is “a gift to your future self from your present self.”
Then again, if you’re not interested in their membership and would rather do their exercises at home, they also have an at-home bike that you can buy! It costs less than the cheapest Peloton, and comes with all the bells and whistles plus some more!

Pros
- Focuses on a lot of areas for one workout
- Continuously adjusts your parameters
- Spin classes are great for burning calories
- Strength and Yoga classes are available
Cons
- Some time slots are hard to get into
SPENGA, unlike other spinning classes in Houston, doesn’t just focus on spinning classes – if you’re motivated, they can help you get in shape faster and in style with their Strength and Yoga classes, too!
But don’t think that their spinning classes pale in comparison to their Strength and Yoga classes – in fact, SPENGA’s spin classes incorporate aerobic and anaerobic exercises too, making it a challenge and a half if you’re not prepared!
SPENGA also monitors your metrics and continuously adjusts the exercise depending on your current level, which ensures that you’ll be up for a challenge every visit. How do they do it, you ask? They up the resistance on your bike depending on your metrics.
After you’re done with their Spin Class, you can take part in their Yoga Program, which helps you with your breathing pattern after the intense exercise while helping you cool down, too.
However, since SPENGA members can come in at any time, you may find yourself not being able to get into a class at the time that you want, since every membership tier allows you to choose a time for you to enter their class.
Then again, their instructors make sure that their class allows you to focus on yourself and your progress, which allows you to better yourself without comparing yourself to others.

Pros
- Empowering female space
- 30|30 classes can burn lots of calories
- Cycle classes are fun
- You can use one membership on both branches
Cons
- Website booking can be difficult
A spinning class in Houston that both empowers women and helps keep you fit, we really liked how a membership with Mōtiv Fitness allows you to have unlimited access to both their West University AND their Tanglewood branch!
Mōtiv Fitness offers a great variation on the typical spinning class – they have their regular Cycle Class where you can cycle while also doing cardio and developing your strength even more, but if you want a challenge then the 30|30 is the way to go.
The 30|30 is a 60-minute class that incorporates 30 minutes of their Cycle Class and 30 minutes of their Barre Class. It’s a high-intensity workout, and you’ll sweat a lot if you’re not prepared enough for it!
But Mōtiv Fitness also has lots of classes available too! Apart from the aforementioned Barre Class that helps you develop your core, they also have HIIT, Dance Cardio, and Trampoline Classes.
However, though we like Mōtiv Fitness and their variety of classes, we did find booking a class to be difficult through their website. If you want to book a class with them, it’s better to use their app, which also allows you to book a timeslot ahead of time, too.
But once you get to book a session, then you’re in for a world of fun exercise programs! Their instructors are friendly and empowering, and we liked our time there overall!
