Although more of an East Asian supermarket they still offer things like Samyang spicy noodles and Nongshim Ramyun for $7 and $5, respectively!

Lunar New Year is a big occasion for Houston’s Vietnamese population. Thus, we don’t recommend visiting Viet Hoa International Foods during the season, since their land area is on the smaller side!

Conveniently located in Houston’s Chinatown, stepping into Great Wall Supermarket is like stepping into any Asian’s idea of a supermarket. Imagine a wall stacked with Asian snacks all over, plus a fresh produce section, to boot!
Great Wall Supermarkets’ main claim to fame is their ridiculously cheap prices. Most of the products in their produce section, like Eggplants and Chinese Celery, cost $3 – which can still be cut to $1.28 if you happen to catch them on sale!
But if you’re on the lookout for rare Asian snacks, then we recommend trying out the Golden Monkey Durian-flavored Ice Cream they occasionally have in stock! It’s a bit of a hot commodity though, so we suggest moving quickly so you can try it out!
Pro Tips:
The parking situation at the Great Wall Supermarket is, for lack of better wording, a bloodbath. That’s why if you’re planning to visit, we suggest parking at the garage nearby if you’re bringing your car with you.

Address: 9896 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77036
Phone Number: 713-270-1110
Website
Hours: Monday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
H Mart has 3 branches in Houston alone – they do pride themselves as a “Korean Tradition made in America” after all. But what makes H Mart unique is the fact that you can get US-sized Asian food for a relatively cheap price!
To put that in perspective, you can buy an 81.13 oz (2.3 liters) jar of either Chopped or Whole Cabbage Kimchi for $17. The same goes for the smaller, 35.27 oz (1 liter) jar of Garlic Kimchi, which can save a lot of money since kimchi isn’t necessarily cheap.
H Mart Houston also offers plenty of popular Korean snacks and drinks like Banana Milk and specialty ramyun with a lavish 25% discount. But if you’re looking for something rarer, then you can get some DongWon brand Cup Tteokbokki for $2.49!
Pro Tips:
Although H Mart offers great sales, we strongly recommend bringing more than enough cash as if there aren’t any. This is because there are times when the cashier doesn’t register the ongoing sale, which can be a bit of a hassle.

Filtex Company offers Filipino snacks at a relatively cheap price, with most of their snacks not going below $6.
But if you’re not visiting Filtex Company for their snacks, then they also have multivitamins and other tried-and-tested Filipino supplements. And during Christmas time, they also sell some Filipino Christmas ornaments, too!

Despite their name though, this market doesn’t just sell produce from Hong Kong, they also sell other specialty Asian produce. It varies depending on the week, but you can expect jackfruits, mandarins, and even Japanese pike fish occasionally!
We highly suggest checking out their Facebook page to learn more about their ongoing discount prices since they do post there regularly! They also have plenty of locations throughout Houston for extra convenience.
Pro Tips:
If you do plan to shop at the Hong Kong Food Market, we strongly suggest you double-check your receipts! Their equipment is rather outdated, which means that there may be instances of them double charging you for an item.

If you’re looking for a place to buy Japanese-style food plus some fresh veggies for your pantry, then we suggest trying out Seiwa Market! Yes, their prices are a lot more expensive compared to other Asian supermarkets, but their quality items make up for it!
Seiwa Market offers meat and fish products directly sourced from Japan, along with ready-made food. They’re placed in separate areas of the supermarket, and they’re in an air-tight plastic container so you won’t have to worry about cross-contamination.
However, what makes Seiwa Market unique is the fact that they have a fully functioning deli where you can buy authentic Japanese food! You can even test-taste some of the products for free like Target does, so you’ll know what it tastes like before you buy them!
Pro Tips:
Seiwa Market’s Onigiris from their deli is a must-try! It’s one of their more popular food items though, so you will have to come early if you want to give it a try for yourself.

Jusgo Supermarket also has a fresh produce section that you can browse through. However, what makes their produce section unique is that you can get some rare finds like mangosteens, golden kiwis, and lychees if you look hard enough!
However, fruits aren’t the only rare finds you can get at Jusgo Supermarket – they also sell live frogs and even turtles at their seafood counter! And before you hesitate, these are completely safe to consume and are cleaned thoroughly before being sold.
Pro Tips:
Jusgo Supermarket doesn’t really sort out their goods, so oftentimes, you’ll have to scour throughout an entire section to find what you want.

Phone Number: 713-910-5860
Website
Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday – Sunday: Closed
A different kind of Asian supermarket in Houston, Amy Food Inc. is more of a retailer of frozen goods rather than your typical supermarket with food items. Amy Food Inc. makes Crab Rangoons, Spring and Egg Rolls, Empanadas, and Potstickers, too!
The aforementioned food items are classified as deli items, and you can buy them from Amy Food Inc. either through their website or in their location at South Richley Street. These deli items are relatively cheap too, with most of them costing less than $10.
However, that’s not the only thing Amy Food Inc. has to offer since you can also buy ready-to-eat bento boxes, too! These bento boxes consist of their deli products plus a side of Vegetable Rolls made by Amy Food Inc., too.
Pro Tips:
Army Food Inc. doesn’t exactly function like an Asian supermarket. They’re more like a retailer above all else, which means they’re a great option if you’re running your own business, too!
