Pros
- Vegan options
- Spacious restaurant
Cons
- Difficult parking
- Short-staffed
Taste of Mulan is a relaxed casual eating Chinese restaurant that serves traditional dim sum along with other Chinese dishes.
Their menu is really expansive, which may seem overwhelming at first. It’s best to ask their server for a couple of options along with their best sellers if you’re new to the restaurant.
What we liked was how they offer quite a lot of vegan options. Some vegan dishes we would recommend are durian puffs, mushroom cheong fun, and mushroom noodles.
The restaurant is also very spacious. There is a lot of seating available so this is also a great place for larger groups.
The tables aren’t spaced too close to each other, which gives you a lot of room to dine comfortably.
One of our concerns would be how difficult it is to park. You’d have to go to the back of the restaurant to find parking.
Also, we noticed that they are quite short-staffed. When we came to visit, there weren’t too many people but it was quite difficult for the servers to attend to our table.
This may be a concern, especially for those who arrive hungry or for those eating with a lot of people. However, if you’re not really in a rush then this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Pros
- Portion size options
- Free and accessible parking
- Quick service
Cons
- Food is pricier
- The place can get packed during lunch and dinner hours
Golden Dim Sum is a small, local Chinese eatery located on Bellaire Blvd. It’s a pretty spacious restaurant but it is a bit dim.
They have an entire menu dedicated to their dim sum options and another menu for other Chinese food offerings.
We really liked how they have portion-size options. You can choose from small, medium, large, or extra large.
This is great for those who don’t want to have any extras or for those who simply want to save up a bit of money.
Since this place is located in a restaurant strip, there are a lot of free and accessible parking spaces in the area.
We liked how quick their service was. They don’t have the traditional dim sum cart, but our orders left the kitchen pretty quicked, which allowed us to get right to eating.
Our favorites from the dim sum menu were the shrimp wontons that were juicy on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside and the dry scallop dumplings that has a similar taste to shrimp.
We did notice that the prices were a bit more expensive but they do have promotions. We got free fried rice since we ordered two entrees.
Take note that the place can get quite packed during lunch and dinner times so try to get a reservation or just come a bit earlier.

Pros
- Can accommodate large groups
- Affordable prices
- Large portion sizes
Cons
- Quite difficult to find the place
- The menu doesn’t indicate the quantity
Dim Sum King is a Chinese restaurant offering authentic Chinese cuisine. They first opened back in 2017 but have recently renovated and reopened back in November 2022.
Their newly upgraded place can accommodate large groups. This is a signature for Chinese restaurants that also caters to parties and celebrations.
We like how they have the traditionally large portion sizes for each dish. This may be difficult if you’re only eating with a few people since you won’t be able to order as much so try to come with a larger group.
Despite their large servings, their prices are actually quite affordable. So if you don’t mind having extra food for takeout, then feel free to order to your heart’s content.
We did have trouble finding the location since it’s on the corner of a shopping plaza. The sign is also a bit small so try to ask around so you won’t get lost.
We also had a hard time figuring out what and how much to order in the beginning since they did not indicate their serving quantity for the dim sum options. It’s best to ask their waiter so that you can buy an ample amount of food.
Overall, we really enjoyed their steamed chicken feet, steamed bbq pork, and pan-fried turnip cake.

Pros
- Reasonable prices
- Traditional cart system
- Can accommodate groups and parties
Cons
- Long wait time
- Random food serving
Ocean Palace first opened back in 1999 in the heart of Chinatown in Hong Kong City Mall. It was recently renovated back in 2018 and has over 65 tables and an events room on the second floor.
They’re one of the more traditional restaurants that serve dim sum daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. They also claim to be the largest dim sum restaurant in the area to date.
Upon checking their menu, we noticed that they have pretty reasonable prices. Their serving sizes aren’t exceptionally big so it’s better if you order multiple dishes to share.
We also liked how they’re one of the few restaurants that follow the traditional dim sum cart system. It gives you a more authentic dining experience and it’s much easier to order more if you want some extras.
The place is also great for groups and parties. Their second floor can be rented out if you have any big celebrations.
We did notice that the place is packed almost every hour of every day so there is a pretty long wait time. You can try to put in a reservation if you’d like to avoid the wait.
Also, their food serving is pretty random. They don’t start off with starters but just serve whatever’s finished cooking first.

Pros
- Trendy, modern atmosphere
- Vegetarian options available
Cons
- Pricier menu items
- Other food offerings aren’t as delicious
- Limited parking
Wanna Bao is a rather new Chinese restaurant that opened its doors back in 2018. The owners are also the owners of another popular Chinese establishment in Chinatown that’s known for its soup dumplings.
This restaurant specialized in cuisine from Shanghai and Chengdu. Their specialty is their xiao long bao.
Right off the bat, we noticed that this restaurant has a far different interior from your typical Chinese restaurant.
The place has a very modern and trendy atmosphere that makes it perfect for casual date nights or dinner dates with friends.
The place isn’t too loud and even when it’s packed, the acoustics allow you to stay focused on your conversation.
As expected, they have a very expansive menu and they even have some vegetarian options available.
The soup dumplings were exceptional. They were all packed to the brim with flavorful soup and juicy filling. We would say, however, that although their dim sum was great, the other food options weren’t as delicious.
Also, their food is on the pricier side. It’s $10.60 for 6 pieces of soup dumplings while other restaurants usually serve 8 or 10 for that price.
Their parking is also pretty limited so try to come earlier so that you can get a parking spot.
