Pros
- Televisits offered
- Transparent rates
Cons
- Long waiting times
- Not as knowledgeable in women’s hormones issues
Dr. Medhavi Jogi is a co-founder of Houston Thyroid and Endocrine Specialists, which is second on our list. Dr. Medhavi is so well-known and trusted that we had to give him a separate listing.
He’s double board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. We like this because it means the American Board of Internal Medicine trusts in his work.
If you don’t have insurance, the clinic has self-pay charges and rates all presented on their website. We appreciate the transparency, so you can prepare your budget and expectations.
The usual rate for their check-ups is $200 for new patients and $100 for follow-up patients. It’s fairly standard pricing, and they do accept a variety of insurances.
He also does televisits, which is awesome for those of you who may find it hard to go to their clinic. We also appreciate this for those who would rather stay at home because of COVID.
He comes very highly recommended by his patients, which we love. They say he is understanding, patient, and very informative.
However, some people did have some issues at reception. These patients cited responsiveness and waiting times being pretty difficult in the clinic.
Some people also said he admits he’s not as well-studied in women’s hormones. If you have concerns with that, we recommend looking into someone else on this list.

Pros
- Seven endocrinologists
- Two offices
Cons
- Sometimes make last-minute cancellations on your appointment
- $50 cancellation fee (when you make the cancellation)
Houston Thyroid and Endocrine Specialists has seven adult endocrinologists ready to help you. We like this because it means they can accommodate a larger group of patients.
They are all certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. We think this makes them more than qualified to help you with your concerns.
They have two offices, one in Houston Texas Medical Center and one in Katy. This is great because it means you can schedule an appointment in the clinic most convenient for you.
The usual rate for their check-ups is $200 for new patients and $100 for follow-up patients. It’s standard price for most clinics of this quality.
The past patients we reached out to say the doctors really care and listen to you. We think bedside manners are absolutely important, so we’re glad they do their best.
We should note, though, that some patients had trouble with scheduling. They’re a very busy clinic, which means that sometimes there are last-minute cancellations coming from them.
We took points off for this because we understand how important your time is.
We’re also not huge fans of their $50 cancellation fee. While we understand why it’s there, some emergencies cannot be helped.

Pros
- Good range of services, including concierge medicine and laser treatment
- Onsite lab testing
Cons
- Sometimes do last-minute cancellations on your appointment
Houston Endocrinology Center has six endocrinologists, and two diabetes educators. The last two are also a dietitian and a nutritionist.
We think this is great because you have a range of experts to choose from. You can pick the personality and specialty that suits your needs the most.
Dr. Damaris Vega, the founder, has a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. She has plenty of accolades in the field, giving us plenty of reasons to trust in her expertise.
The clinic specializes in diabetes management, nutrition and education, and weight loss management. They also do laser treatment, concierge medicine, and clinical studies.
We like this range of services a lot because there’s something for everybody. The laser hair removal, for example, is perfect for patients dealing with PCOS.
They offer onsite lab testing, which we think is really convenient. They are currently affiliated with Quest Diagnostics.
The patients we reached out to had lovely experiences with Dr. Vega and the other doctors in the clinic. They cited them as kind, friendly, and very knowledgeable.
However, we don’t like that some patients mentioned having difficulties with scheduling. Some had their appointments cancelled close to the date, which is really inconvenient.

Pros
- Eleven specialists
- Two locations
Cons
- Long waiting times
- Issues with responsiveness
The Endocrine Center has eleven Endocrine, Diabetes, and Thyroid specialists. They provide care for both adults and teenagers.
We like that there’s a good number of doctors at the facility. This means that there’s a variety of personalities and specialties to choose from.
With their range of specializations, they cover a lot of issues related to endocrinology. These include diabetes, osteoporosis, hormonal issues, thyroid, and other concerns.
They have two locations: one at Main Campus, Methodist West and one in Greater Heights. This means that you can schedule an appointment at the one more convenient for you.
The patients we reached out to truly loved the care they received at the Endocrine Center, They say the doctors are professional, friendly, and very clear with communication.
However, a few of them did say they had difficulties communicating with the doctors through reception. Some also said they had to wait over an hour for their appointment to begin.
A patient did say that the service was “worth the wait,” however. With high rates of customer satisfaction, many can’t help but agree.

Pros
- Hormone replacement specialist in men and women
- Good range of specializations
Cons
- Issues with responsiveness
- Cancellation fee
Dr. Andres Splenser, MD is an award-winning endocrinologist. Some of the awards he received are Houstonia magazine’s top endocrinologist in Houston, and Texas Super Doctors 2021.
We think this is awesome, because it means he’s respected by other professionals in the city. This makes his services very trustworthy in our eyes.
He specializes in the treatment of thyroid problems (including nodules and cancer), diabetes, PCOS, high cholesterol, and fatty liver. It’s clear he’s an expert in a good range of issues.
He is also a specialist in hormone replacement in men and women, and the treatment of osteopenia / osteoporosis. If those are your concerns, he’s more than qualified to help you.
His patients say Dr. Splenser is knowledgeable, understanding, and friendly. Bedside manners and disposition are always important to us, so we gave him points for that.
However, some were frustrated about communication with reception. A handful of patients said it’s very difficult to get in touch with them through the phone, their calls going unanswered.
We understand that the clinic is very busy, but we did take some points off for that. They also charge a $50-$100 cancellation fee if you cancel less than 48 hours before your appointment.
