Pros
- Grilled or wok-fried options available
- From the Wok menu proteins can be customized
- Good flavor profile on fusion dishes
- The lunch menu offers a good twist on Kosher dishes
Cons
- Price can change depending on the day
With their unique food selection and a different approach to Kosher food as a whole, Saba’s Grill & Wok provides Kosher food for anyone who wants to give it a try by giving it a unique twist.
What we liked about Saba’s Grill & Wok is that they have two different menus for you to choose from. The From the Wok menu is perfect for vegans and vegetarians as you can pick tofu as your protein, and the From the Grill is good if you want meatier options.
Our top picks are the Mongolian-style with tofu as the protein and the Beef Kubbeh and Arayas from the From the Grill menu.
The Mongolian-style garlic sauce goes really well with any protein of your choice, but it can give your tofu that extra flavor it usually misses. The Beef Kubbah and Arayas are both delicious and are stuffed full.
The only thing that we didn’t like about Saba’s Grill & Wok is their prices – or how inconsistent it can be. Though they have fixed prices, it can (and has changed) several times without notice and it can be surprising when you’re caught off guard.
Saba’s Grill & Wok also surprised us with their lunch menu – it’s loaded with nice Kosher meals for cheap! Their prices range from $12 for the vegetarian, $13 for the chicken, and $14 for the beef. And that’s cheap for a Kosher meal!

Pros
- Authentic Mediterranean food
- Female-owned
- Good location
- Vegan meals are available
Cons
- Not certified for Passover
From the get-go, we appreciated how Oh Mama’s Kitchen is proudly owned by a female chef – and she’s the first one to be certified in Houston to do so! And with the food that they offer, it’s really no surprise!
They have plenty of good food, but our top pick would have to be their Meatballs in Moroccan Red Sauce. The meatball is cooked nicely and is nice and juicy, and the tangy (and a bit spicy!) sauce compliments the meatballs perfectly.
They also have vegan meals if that’s up your alley! And it’s not a tasteless, forced meal either – it’s genuinely good! The Spicy Eggplant and the Fried Cauliflower, especially. The Eggplant is nicely covered in that nice spicy sauce, and the cauliflower is fried well.
But if you want to dine in at Oh Mama’s Kitchen during Passover, then you’re out of luck since they’re not certified for Passover yet and are only available for takeouts during the entire week.
We suggest you come and visit them on days other than the Passover. They’re located right at the heart of Houston’s Jewish Community and you can easily spot their building, too.

Pros
- Posh dining experience
- Wide variety of menu options
- Excellent wine selections
- Sushi options for pescatarians
Cons
- Dress policy can be tedious
Definitely a more posh Kosher restaurant im Houston, Genesis Steakhouse & Wine Bar is a solid example of what an upper scale Kosher meal should look like.
Now, by “posh,” we really do mean posh. They even have a dress code and all that jazz. Yes, it means that you can’t enter Genesis Steakhouse & Wine Bar while wearing just jeans and a shirt. They require at least business casual attire, so be prepared!
To be fair, that’s the only criticism we have about the place. Everything apart from that is great by far! They have excellent food and wine options, though it can be a bit pricey.
We recommend their Tomahawk for two, and Beef Fajitas if you want a solo meal. The Tomahawk is perfectly cooked, and ordering it medium rare ensures that the meat is juicy. The Beef Fajitas are also nice and well-seasoned, and it has large cuts, too.
Now, their wines. They only have sparkling or red, but both have a nice selection of wines from all over the globe. The Chateau du Parsac goes well with the Tomahawk, and has legs that any wine enjoyer will enjoy for sure.
And they have pescatarian-friendly options in the form of sushi, too! You should try their Spicy Croquette Tuna, pescatarian or not. It’s fried nicely and it’s not overwhelmingly spicy as well.

Pros
- Vegan menu available
- Kosher Pizza available
- Mediterranean entrees are well-made
- Good pricing on menu items
Cons
- Kosher Pizza isn’t for everyone
Kosher Pizza? Yes, it’s possible – and Pizza TLV made it happen to make a Kosher restaurant in Houston!
Their Kosher Pizza is essentially an all-cheese pizza. And before you pull the “just cheese is overwhelming and the meat can help boost the flavor” card, hold on! It tastes nice, and the tomato sauce and the seasonings help balance out the strong cheese.
Though we understand that just cheese on pizza isn’t for everyone, it’s still a nice twist on food that the Jewish community wants and can be catered for everyone.
Their other menu items are just as good – if not better – than their pizzas! There’s plenty to choose from, and they’re all budget-friendly, too! Their House Panini is toasted just right and isn’t overwhelmingly cheesy.
Their Shakshukkah is really good, too! It has that authentic Mediterranean flavor profile that we’ve been searching for, and the eggs are poached beautifully, too.
Best still, they also offer vegan food options that are, quite frankly, delicious, too! The cheese pizza is one, but if you don’t want that then they also have Vegan Nachos that are generously covered in this wonderful sauce.

Pros
- Plenty of vegetarian options
- Good price points on menu items
- Good selection of food modifications
- There’s a kid’s menu(-ish)
Cons
- You have to ask the waitress for the dessert list
What Dino’s lack in kid’s menu options, they more than make up for in excellent Mediterranean food that has been passed down for generations to make a Kosher restaurant that Houstonians will definitely love.
We have to start on a negative note – their kids’ menu consists of a hotdog and a schnitzel, and that’s it. The schnitzel is perfectly cooked and is definitely more suited for a kid’s tastebuds.
What’s more, they don’t have a set dessert option. And by that, we mean that you’ll need to ask the waitress for what the dessert for the day will be. Though it means that you can get different desserts every visit, having a set menu is still a nice one.
But everything else about Dino’s is excellent! Their food comes with one cold side of pita, lafa, or baguette and a side of fries. For us, order their Kabob with a side of pita. The meat goes well with the pita, and take one big bite of it all and thank us later!
Their Hummus Plate is really nice, too! Order it with a bit of extra meat in it and you’re in for a treat. It comes with pita and a spicy sauce that can really even out the strong, garlicky flavor of the Hummus.
