5 Best Restaurants with Play Areas in Houston

5 Best Restaurants with Play Areas in Houston
  • Good food options: Though restaurants with play areas are usually made to entertain kids, it’s still a restaurant before anything else. So a good one should have great food options for adults and children alike!
  • Plenty of space for kids: The main selling point of a restaurant with play areas is the huge space for kids to roam around and play, so they should have just that!
  • Comprehensive kids menu: Since kids are picky eaters by heart, a good restaurant with play areas should have comprehensive kids’ food options for your kids to choose from!
  • Reasonable pricing: Food for you and your kids shouldn’t cost a lot of money. Thus, a good restaurant with play areas should offer good food for reasonable prices!
  • Limited-time discounts: Taking your kids to a restaurant with a play area that offers limited-time discounts will make sure that both of you will have a great time!

Pros

  • Arcade machines available
  • Menu for kids and adults
  • Candy shop for children
  • There are plenty of menu options

Cons

  • Expensive pricing on food

The thing that we like the most about Little Matt’s is not just that they have an arcade machine for both kids and kids-at-heart – they also have a candy shop that your kids will surely enjoy, too!

Their candy shop is a perfect place for your kids to enjoy and have a good time after their meals. Though we didn’t go there personally, a lot of kids visited the candy shop so we know that their candies are good.

We also really liked that they have arcade machines ala Dave and Busters, too! This is a nice touch for anyone who appreciates the retro games that they have to offer. Their Pac-Man machine is a timeless classic that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age!

We liked that they have plenty of food choices to choose from as well. Most of the menu options are well-priced and flavorful, too! We recommend their Miss Texas Chicken Sandwich and the Bacon Cheeseburger. They’re delicious without being too greasy!

But not every menu item is as reasonably priced as their sandwiches. Some menu items, like the Ahi Tuna Salad, can cost more than you expect. But the flavor is still okay, so we couldn’t complain much.

But we do have to commend Little Matt’s kids’ menu since they offer every food children like! The Macaroni and Cheese and Chicken Tenders are big hits with the kids.

Pros

  • They have Happy Hour!
  • Soft-serve ice creams are great
  • Their gift cards are a perfect gift
  • Dinks for adults are available

Cons

  • Not a lot of options on the kids’ menu

The huge space over at Betsy’s at Evelyn’s Park is a nice touch that we appreciate, especially considering that it’s a restaurant with a play area for your kids. And though their kids’ menu could do with more options, we still liked it overall.

We liked that they have gift cards that you can use and potentially give to your loved ones. Their $100 gift cards come in various designs, and since it has $100, you and the person you gifted it to can use it multiple times, especially during their Happy Hour.

Speaking of Happy Hour, their offerings are unlike anything we’ve seen from other restaurants in Houston! For $20, you can get a cheese board and a bottle of their house wine, so you and your kid can have fun your own way.

Now, their limited kids’ menu can be a minus for parents. But they made sure that every item there is tailored to a kid’s liking, so there are no problems there. Their Grilled Cheese and Hot Dogs are a huge hit with the kids since they fit their palette well.

We also have to give their soft serve ice creams an honorable mention, too! The vanilla chocolate swirls are perfect for both kids and adults, and they’re cheap, too! You can also get popsicles from All We Need Farms, which are always a treat!

Pros

  • Buffets are available on Sundays
  • Plenty of food options
  • The breakfast menu is available until 2 PM
  • Membership offers good perks

Cons

  • Not a lot of options on the kids’ menu

What did we like about Skeeter’s Mesquite Grill? You can get their breakfast menu until 2 PM, which is rare, especially for restaurants with play areas in Houston!

Their breakfast menu isn’t anything to sneeze at, too. Since they specialize in Tex-Mex cuisine, their Skeeter Melt and Breakfast Tacos are a must-try! Both encapsulate that particular Tex-Mex flavor we’re all familiar with, and are flavorful, too!

But their breakfast menus aren’t everything – their regular menus are well-made, too! Their Quesadillas and Mesquite Pork Chops are our top picks, since the Quesadillas are perfectly cheesy, and the Pork Chops are cooked just right.

What’s more, if you visit them on a Sunday from 9 AM to 12 PM then you can fork over $16 and voila! You’re in for Skeeter’s Mesquite Grill’s Sunday Buffet, which is an amazing eat-all-you-can experience!

Now, unlike other restaurants with play areas, they don’t have a particularly large kids’ menu. But they all cost only $5 and can be served with either fries or fruits which kids like.

We also have to mention that you can sign up for a membership program that can net you surprising rewards for you, especially on your birthdays. And you can use it on other establishments too, which we really appreciate.

Pros

  • Plenty of brunch and dinner menu options
  • Good selection on the kids’ brunch menu
  • Plenty of coffee options
  • Daily offers are a must-watch

Cons

  • Breakfast and lunch menus are more expensive than expected

A great space for both kids and adults alike, Canyon Creek promises a good time for everyone in more ways than one.

One of the things that we liked was that they have daily promos which can make every visit different. From their Steak Nights on Mondays to their Saturday and Sunday brunches, Canyon Creek’s daily offers are a must-watch for everyone!

We also really liked their food selections, too! Both their dinner and brunch menus have good options. We recommend the Best Crispy Chicken from their dinner menu, and the Breakfast Sammich from brunch. Both are well-made and are perfectly seasoned.

However, we do have to mention that Canyon Creek’s food does cost a bit more compared to other restaurants. Their sandwiches cost $15 minimum, but they’re all well made so it’s perfectly worth it.

We also have to give their coffees an honorable mention, too! They have plenty of coffee options to choose from, but the Cuban Brew is our top pick, as it’s the right amount of strong and sweet.

Another plus for Canyon Creek is their kids’ menu, too! Though grilled chicken isn’t a kids’ first choice, it’s still seasoned well without being too strong. But if they don’t like that, then the Crispy Chicken Tenders are good, too.

Pros

  • Lots of branches all over the U.S.
  • Arcade is perfect for children to play around
  • Plenty of food options
  • Many non-gluten and vegetarian choices

Cons

  • Some menu items are not good for calorie counting

Yes, Dave and Busters have hundreds of locations all over the U.S. but trust us that the one over at Katy is good for both kids and adults alike!

Since Dave and Busters is an established franchise, they have plenty of menu options for you to choose from. They even have an allergen menu where you can navigate their menu where you can check which menu options are safe to eat if you have a certain allergy.

We recommend you try their Philly Cheesesteak and their Fish & Chips! The Cheesesteak is perfectly cooked with just the right amount of cheese, and the Fish and Chips is well-seasoned and have the right balance of batter and fish.

Though they don’t have a set vegetarian menu, it does indicate which specific items are non-gluten and vegetarian-friendly, which is a nice touch.

However, we do have to warn you that Dave and Busters isn’t the best place to go to if you’re on a diet. Their food is calorie-rich, and though it’s super filling and delicious, it might not be the best idea to get food there if you’re calorie-counting.

But if you do want to avoid their calorie-rich food, then their arcade machines are the perfect distraction. From VR games to classic shooters like Halo and part games like Connect 4, you can really take your time there and enjoy.
