Pros
- They have a two-week free trial
- They have other fitness classes
- They offer youth programs
- Good variety of climbs
Cons
- It can get crowded
- 2 hours on Saturdays are dedicated to members only
Momentum Indoor Climbing soft opened back in fall of 2006. They had a grand opening only in 2007 when the rest of their facilities were introduced.
At present, they have expanded to 5 gyms in total located in Texas and Washington.
During our visit, we really loved how there was a two-week free trial. This gives you access to the entire gym and on top of that, you’re also provided with all the climbing gear you need.
Aside from bouldering, they also offer different classes. You can have a workout at their gym with a decent amount of equipment or you could also attend their yoga classes.
This is perfect for those who want to switch it up with their fitness routine.
It’s also great how they offer youth programs. They cater to kids as young as three years old! There are also a good variety of climbs in this gym so you won’t get bored anytime soon.
Do note, however, that it can get quite crowded. Try going during the early times of the day to avoid the mass of people.
Also, on Saturdays from 8 to 10 AM, only members are allowed to use the entire facility. Make sure you keep this in mind if you’re only availing of their day passes.
Overall, we’re very impressed with all that Momentum Indoor Climbing has to offer. It’s the best place for those who love all types of movement!

Pros
- Can be rented for group events or team building
- Offers a lot of programs
- A lot of parking slots
Cons
- Does not have a free trial pass
- They charge for tape and bandaids
- Does not have air conditioning
- Dim lighting
Texas Rock Gym has been around since 1996. They’re an indoor rock climbing gym that also offers a bunch of different fitness activity options.
Upon visiting, we noticed that there were a lot of parking slots. We really liked this since it’s much easier to just go to the climbing gym with ease knowing that you don’t have to worry about where to park your car.
We like how the place can be rented for group events or team-building activities. You can even celebrate your birthday here!
We also like how they have other programs aside from rock climbing. The ones that stood out were the Tai Chi, Kung Fu, and Aikido classes that you don’t see much anywhere else.
A downside was that they don’t have any free trial passes so you really have to pay for a day pass on your first visit.
The place itself looks pretty good but a big concern would be the lighting and air conditioning. They don’t have air conditioners so it can get quite hot and the lighting is also a bit dim.
Also, in case you need bandages and tapes, you’ll have to pay for those too. We would have preferred if you a few were at least offered free of charge, but it’s not a dealbreaker.
Overall, we’d definitely recommend checking out Texas Rock Gym for its programs.

Pros
- Has party rooms
- Has outdoor challenge courses for team buildings
- Variety of climbs
Cons
- Can get filled up with kids
- Higher rates
inSpire Rock Indoor Climbing has been around since 2013. At present, they have two branches in Texas.
They offer over 42,000 square feet of climbing and 63 walls. Their gyms are designed for climbers of different age groups and different skill levels.
We liked how they cater to different parties and events. They have designated party rooms but you could also just come together in big groups.
They also have a lot of outdoor challenge courses that are fit for team-building activities. This is also a great option for those who want to switch to a new environment.
There are also a good variety of climbs in the area. You don’t really have to worry about doing the same one over and over again.
Do take note, however, that there may be times when it can get really crowded. Since they cater to kid parties a lot, expect a whole lot of kids playing around.
A lot of people have also complained about this getting in the way of their usual climbing activities, so try to go during the early mornings.
It’s also unfortunate that they have higher rates compared to other indoor climbing centers. However, if you just want a place that’s got a variety of climbing setups then inSpire is a great place for you.

Pros
- Open daily
- Caters to private events and reservations
- Good mix of routes
Cons
- Day pass a bit expensive
- Sign up fee for members
Paparruchos Indoor Soccer is a multipurpose sport and event facility in Houston. They cater to multiple activities like indoor soccer, rock climbing, yoga, and more.
We appreciate how they have a climbing 101 class for those who are new to climbing or just want to learn more about it. They also offer other classes you can join if you’re looking to switch things up.
What we really like about them is how they’re open daily. This is great for those who can only go rock climbing or do physical activities on certain days of the week.
You can also have people come with you when you climb. They don’t have to pay anything as long as they’re only there to observe.
They also cater to private events and reservations. So if you’re looking to celebrate your birthday with some rock climbing, they can be a good option.
They don’t have as big of a rock climbing facility as other places, but they still have a good mix of routes you can try.
A downside is that their day passes are a bit expensive. Also, if you’re planning on becoming a member, you’d have to pay a sign-up fee as well.
However, if you’re looking for a facility that can cater to multiple activities and price isn’t much of an issue, Paparruchos Indoor Soccer is a great choice.

Pros
- Has a variety of activities
- Great place for going out, team building activities, dates, and more.
Cons
- Not a rock climbing-specific gym
- No bathrooms
- No running water
- Quite pricey
Geronimo Adventure Park opened quite recently in 2020. This is a 13-acre forest where people can go rock climbing, ziplining, and more.
Now, this place is not exactly in Houston but it is just around 20 minutes away so it’s really not that bad if you’re looking for something different from your usual gym.
This place is an adventure park that allows you to do a variety of fun activities. If you’re tired of indoor rock climbing, try something new by doing it outdoors alongside other activities.
It isn’t just a place for you to practice your rock climbing skills, it’s also a great place for families, team-building activities, dates, and more. The place is pretty versatile!
Unfortunately, it’s not a rock climbing-specific gym so if that’s what you’re looking for this might not be the place for you.
Also, take note before going that they do not have a bathroom and they occasionally do not have running water. You might want to make a stop before getting to the place so as to not cut your trip short.
The entrance fee can also be a bit pricey but since you probably won’t be back as frequently, the splurge might be worth it.
