Address: 1638 Westheimer Road

Contact: (713) 424-8929

Hours: Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–6:00 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM–1:00 PM

Central Houston Animal Hospital provides comprehensive medical care, including wellness visits, internal medicine, surgery, and grooming. Their central inner-loop location makes drop-offs quick and stress-free.

We interviewed a client whose rescue dog suddenly developed a fever, and they told us the walk-in option made a stressful situation much easier. The staff got them into an exam room quickly and remained calm throughout the visit.

For added convenience, the hospital opens at 7:00 AM on weekdays, which can help working owners fit appointments in before office hours. If you’d also like to support local pets in need, you can learn how to volunteer at an animal shelter in Houston.

Unfortunately, they close entirely on Sundays and limit Saturday availability. That schedule makes non-emergency weekend visits tricky to secure.

Pros

  • Accepts walk-ins for urgent care
  • Opens early at 7:00 AM weekdays
  • Provides full surgery and grooming
  • Convenient central inner-loop location

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Limited Saturday operating hours

Customer Reviews

I am happy to have found this place!

I brought my lab and golden retriever for a walk in visit and Dr Reid and the technician Dennis were absolutely amazing! Dr Reid is patient and attentive. It was the first time a vet mentioned medication to my 11 yo lab to manage daily arthritis pain. Most vets in the past have only recommended daily supplements making us think it is a common issue. I am happy to have found this place!

Whelp, looks like we found a new vet home.

Whelp, looks like we found a new vet home. Great experience. I came in with a kitten rescue (Dolly) and everyone from the young lady that answered the phone, to the lovely vet tech, and Dr. Smith, we’re all exceptional. Stop reading this review and bring your fur baby! You won’t regret it.

Address: 2959 Southwest Fwy

Hours: Available 24/7

Sunset Animal Hospital delivers full-service 24/7 emergency veterinary care around the clock. Their American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation ensures top-tier medical protocols for urgent treatments, surgeries, and routine vaccinations.

We talked to a local dog owner who brought her pup here for an emergency late at night, and she praised their fast response team. The ability to complete online paperwork beforehand also saves precious time upon arrival.

However, the high-intensity emergency environment here can feel overwhelming for routine wellness checkups. Anxious pets might get stressed by the busy atmosphere.

Still, having a reliable 24-hour option nearby gives incredible peace of mind.

Pros

  • Open 24/7 for emergency visits
  • AAHA accredited for high-quality care
  • Online intake forms save setup time
  • Complete diagnostic and surgical setup

Cons

  • Busy environment; not ideal for sensitive pets

Sunset Animal Hospital was awesome!

Sunset Animal Hospital was awesome! The front office staff, the tech and the Dr. They all made the whole 1st time experience for me and my baby smooth and comfortable. They were professional and compassionate. Down to earth, welcoming. They made you feel like family. The office was really clean, modern, spacious and great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend them to any pet family. I was very amazed and satisfied. Everything about this whole visit was excellent!

Immediately made me feel like everything was going to be okay

I brought my kitten in close to midnight after a really scary accident, with my toddler with me, and Dr. Cho, Daniel and the team were amazing from the second we walked in. He was calm, confident, and immediately made me feel like everything was going to be okay.

They took such good care of my kitten through a traumatic situation, and I truly believe they saved her. They were also so kind and patient with me and my child, which meant a lot in that moment.

We interviewed a client whose cat had a checkup there, and they told us their cat felt surprisingly comfortable thanks to the team’s gentle handling.

The clinic also closes on the last Saturday of each month, so it’s best to plan.

We will definitely be staying with Midtown Vet Hospital

I recently changed vets to see Dr. Clive and it was a really good decision.  My elderly cat received a very thorough exam and issues that had gone undiagnosed by my prior vet were discovered.  He and the tech, Taylor, were very gentle with my old man and took very good care of him.  We will definitely be staying with Midtown Vet Hospital.

I had a fantastic experience at Midtown Veterinary Hospital!

I was very pleased with the services that my piggies and I received

I was desperately trying to find an open appointment for my sick guinea pig and was finally able to book one here. I had a 40 minute drive, all freeway which was quite a trip for me. The staff was very nice, welcoming, and attentive. I did have to wait a bit longer to see the vet tech/vet than I had anticipated but between the vet tech and the vet my piggies had a very thorough, comprehensive exams. I was very pleased with the services that my piggies and I received.

AMC helped my grandma’s birds

AMC helped my grandma’s birds.  She’s so happy and I am so thankful. The birds are doing great.  My grandma is 93 years old. She has 2 birds they weren’t doing too great. I took them in and they were diagnosed, got their meds they needed, along with a beak and nail trim.  I was under a little bit of a unique circumstance and the staff and doctor worked with me to get both birds seen at the same time which I am SO, so very thankful for and so is my extended family who don’t live in Houston.

Customer Reviews

I love Skyline

I love Skyline. It’s an experience as soon as you enter! The office is always of the utmost cleanliness and smells like a spa. Caesar and I are always greeted warmly and everyone is happy to see him. My dog has some health challenges including anxiety. He gets scared and very timid at every vet we’ve been to except Skyline! That means the world to me. This is the only veterinarian I’d consider boarding Caesar and he’s never been boarded in all of his 9 years. Dr. Flowers is amazing! She’s very attentive. She listens and doesn’t dismiss my concerns.

They were truly a God sent blessing

Little late in giving kudos to the doctors and staff at Skyline Animal. They were truly a God sent blessing: professional, compassionate, personable, friendly and accessible. I’ve had pets most of my life and this vet office stood out among ones I’d visited in the past. I had rescued a dog that needed hernia surgery and was weary about surgery and its costs. They not only calmed my fears but listened and adjusted pricing to my surprise and relief. The surgery stitch was cleaned and healed quickly.
